This is some real deep nerdy shit I have seen no one really discuss. Any insights on these projects would be hugely appreciated.
Writing trio: Hugh Davison, Rachel Ramras, Larry Dorf
Projects: The Looney Tunes Show (2011), Mike Tyson Mysteries (2014), Nobodies (2017), The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (2022).
Very interesting career with some quality stuff. The Looney Tunes Show was absolutely formative for me and has genuinely stellar writing. Kind of a perfect vehicle for their voices and comedy connections (Kristen Wiig, Fred Armisen, etc.). It's definitely being reassessed and recognized by the generation that grew up with it as unnecessarily great. And my friends are big fans of Mike Tyson Mysteries (Norm Macdonald pigeon). Seen tremendous love for that as well.
These writers were in the Groundlings. Their experience writing on a "children's" show while their friends became famous and Oscar-recognized (Melissa McCarthy, Jim Rash, etc.) led them to star in their own show about that experience (Nobodies, on TV LAND!!), which was actually kinda good from what little I saw. Anyone actually watch that?
It was super amusing to watch Nobodies and see how each of them reflected the characters in the Looney Tunes show. Hugh Davidson was for sure Bugs and Larry Dorf was for sure Daffy, you could put their words in each others' mouths.
