Cognizant GenC (Bangalore) vs. TCS Ignite (Chennai) for a fresher BCA grad? Need advice!

Hey everyone, I need some help choosing between two fresher offers I recently received as a BCA graduate.

Here are the details:

Option 1: Cognizant (GenC)Role: Analyst Trainee

CTC: ₹2.88 LPA

Location: Bangalore

Option 2: TCS Ignite role: Graduate Trainee

CTC: ₹2.80 LPA

Location: Chennai

I know it's a battle of mediocrity but that's all I have and I really can't afford a bad decision coming from a humble family background. Anyone experience or who has experience with either of the roles offered please share your insights and enlighten me with some clarity of thoughts.

PS. TCS joining is on 3rd of June while Cognizant has just issued LOI

TCS Ignite Fresher (June 3rd) | CTC ₹2.8 LPA | What's the actual in-hand?

Joining TCS Ignite at Chennai MCN Nagar on June 3rd. Monthly CTC as per offer letter is ₹22,339 but what actually hits the account after PF, professional tax, etc.?

A few things I'd love clarity on:

- Actual in-hand after all deductions?

- Is first month's salary delayed?

- Reasonable PG budget near MCN Nagar?

- Does TCS provide accommodation or subsidised food during ILP?

Come from a modest background so trying to plan finances before I land in Chennai. Any experience from folks with a similar profile would really help. Thanks!

TCS Ignite Fresher Joining June 3rd | CTC 2.8 LPA | What's the actual in-hand salary? Need help planning finances before ILP in Chennai

Hey everyone

I'm a TCS Ignite hire with my joining date on June 3rd, 2026. I'll be heading to Chennai (MCN Nagar) for my ILP training and I'm really hoping some of you seniors or folks with a similar profile can help me out.

My details:

Offer type: TCS Ignite

CTC: ₹2.8 LPA

Monthly CTC (as per offer letter): ₹22,339

Joining location: Chennai MCN Nagar (ILP Training)

what will my actual in-hand (take-home) salary be every month?

I know the monthly CTC and in-hand are very different because of PF deductions, professional tax, and other components - but I'm genuinely struggling to figure out the exact number.

The reason I'm asking this here and not just Googling it is because I need to plan my PG accommodation before I join. I don't come from a financially strong background, and every rupee matters to me right now. I want to lock in a PG that's realistic for my budget - not too far from the office/training centre, and not so expensive that I'm left with nothing at the end of the month.

Things I'd love to know from anyone on a similar profile:

What is the approximate in-hand per month after PF (employee + employer side deductions), professional tax, and any other standard deductions?

Is the first month's salary delayed or does it come on time after joining?

For Chennai MCN Nagar specifically - what's a reasonable PG budget? What did you manage with?

Did TCS provide any accommodation support or subsidised food during ILP that helped cut costs?

Any general survival tips for a fresher trying to manage finances in Chennai on this salary?

I'm not complaining about the package I'm genuinely grateful for the opportunity. I just want to be practical and prepared so I don't land up in a tough spot in my first month away from home.

If you've been through ILP at Chennai with a similar CTC, please drop your experience below. It would mean a lot.

Thanks in advance.
