Help with Go v2.0 pre-infusion and steaming
Hi. I’ve bought this as my first proper machine and have paired it with a Niche Zero. I have to say it’s a great machine, and I’m very pleased with it (the only gripe is that I really don’t understand why there isn’t a dedicated steam button, and getting into the settings menu is really finicky).
My cappuccino’s have been inconsistent so far, and I can’t get the base and milk right for art. Some hits, and some misses. I’m using Rave Coffees ‘The Italian Job’ dark roasted beans, ages their Swiss decaffeinated.
There are two obvious issues that I need to fix. The first is pre-infusion. I’m aiming for a 28 second extraction, and until now I’ve included the pre-infusion (stock 5 second infusion and 5 second pause) in the total time. I think this should be 28 seconds plus the pre-infusion and pause time? Confirmation on that and any advice on the pre-infusion, pause, and extraction times would be great.
The second issue is steaming. The wand has two holes, and I’m struggling with the technique and positioning. Any advice on both those points would be gratefully received. I’m thinking of changing the tip to a single hole, but haven’t looked into what to get yet. But my understanding is that this might be more beginner friendly.
I have a WDT tool, and a puck screen (haven’t started using the latter yet). I haven’t detected any channeling.
