. Does SSD speed matter for video editing?

Seeing NVMe drives with crazy read/write speeds compared to cheaper ones, but not sure how much difference it makes in real use. For editing 4K footage, would a faster SSD make scrubbing, loading projects, exporting, or applying effects noticeably quicker, or is it mostly marketing once you already have a decent NVMe? Also wondering if the difference between something like 3,500 MB/s and 7,000 MB/s is even noticeable when editing, or if other parts like the CPU and GPU matter way more. Trying to pick an SSD without wasting money on speed I wont really use.

Should I update every driver whenever a new version comes out?

I keep getting notifications for new drivers and updates, but I’m not sure if I actually need to install all of them right away. GPU drivers seem pretty obvious for gaming, but there’s also motherboard, chipset, audio, network, Bluetooth, storage and random other stuff showing updates. Kinda worried that updating everything could cause new problems or mess up something that’s already working fine. At the same time I don’t wanna stay on outdated drivers if they improve performance, security or fix bugs. Is it better to update only when there’s an actual issue?

Is an IPS monitor still worth buying now that OLED is everywhere?

Is an IPS monitor still worth buying now that OLED is everywhere? Feels like every new gaming monitor is OLED lately and people keep saying once you go OLED you can’t go back.

But IPS monitors are way cheaper, especially if looking for 1440p 144Hz/165Hz or even 4K. I’m mainly gaming but also doing normal desktop stuff, browsing, YouTube, some work etc. So not sure if OLED is actually worth spending way more for.

Big thing I’m wondering about is burn-in. Is that still something you need to worry about if the monitor is used for a lot of desktop stuff with static windows and taskbars? Also how much better does OLED actually look in normal games, not just those super dark scenes people use in comparisons?

Would a good IPS still be a solid choice in 2026 or is OLED basically the obvious choice now? Trying not to spend extra money just because OLED is the newer thing.

Should I buy a desktop if I only use my computer for school and browsing?

Main stuff is Chrome, Word, PDFs, online classes, YouTube, email, and maybe some light photo editing once in a while. No gaming or anything demanding. A laptop seems more convenient, but desktops look like they give better performance for the money and can be upgraded later. The thing is, I don’t really need portability that much, so wondering if there’s any reason to choose a desktop instead. Would a basic desktop with integrated graphics be more than enough for this kind of use? Also, how much should I actually spend without overkill?

Is a USB hub safe to use with PS5 accessories?

Got a bunch of stuff I wanna keep connected like headset dongle, charging cable, external controller stuff and maybe a keyboard, but the PS5 only has so many USB ports and I dont wanna mess anything up. Do USB hubs cause any issues with power delivery or disconnects? Also does it matter if the hub is powered or should a normal USB hub be fine for basic accessories? Seen some cheap ones online and then some way more expensive hubs, so kinda confused if there’s any real difference for PS5 or if they all basically do the same thing. Would a powered hub be safer if multiple things are plugged in at once, or is that overkill? And can using a hub somehow affect controller charging or headset performance? Not really looking to do anything crazy, just wanna avoid damaging the console or having accessories randomly stop working during a game. If you use a USB hub with your PS5, what accessories do you have connected and has it been reliable long term? Any specific things I should look for before buying one?

My keyboard randomly stops responding until I unplug it. Any ideas?

Keyboard randomly stops responding while im using the PC, then suddenly comes back only after unplugging it and plugging it back in. It doesn’t seem tied to any specific game or app either, sometimes it happens when just browsing or typing. Tried switching USB ports but still happens randomly. Keyboard lights also go off when it stops, so seems like the whole keyboard disconnects for some reason. Could this be a USB power issue, bad cable, drivers, motherboard USB problem, or maybe Windows doing something weird? Keyboard itself works perfectly fine otherwise. Any settings I should check before buying a replacement? Would appreciate any ideas or troubleshooting tips.

Can a PS5 actually take advantage of a 240Hz monitor?

I’m looking at monitors right now and found a 240Hz one for a decent price, but not sure if it makes sense for PS5. I know the console can do 120Hz in some games, but does having a 240Hz display give any real benefit at all? Like does it make 120fps games look or feel better, or is the extra refresh rate basically doing nothing?

I mostly play competitive stuff and some fast paced games, so lower input lag and smoother movement would be nice. But I dont wanna buy a 240Hz monitor thinking it’ll somehow make the PS5 run games at 240fps lol.

Also, does HDMI 2.1 matter here? Some 240Hz monitors seem to have it, others only have HDMI 2.0, and I’m kinda confused about what the PS5 actually needs. Would a good 120/144Hz monitor be smarter for PS5, or is 240Hz still worth getting if the monitor is only a little more expensive? Trying to figure this out before buying the wrong thing.
