Does anyone remember if any courses showed up for Clearing on the day of A Level/BTEC/IB results for UCL last year?

I have achieved A*AA and would like to apply through Clearing during my gap year. I understand that Clearing opens on 2 July. Would it be possible for me to secure a place when Clearing opens, or would this only be possible on results day?

Also, should I complete my UCAS application and write a personal statement beforehand, even if I intend to apply through Clearing?
