In desperate need of others opinions

I am thinking of growing my hair out but I have absolutely no idea how they'll look once long and I really love trying different fun types of haircuts and I feel like there's not that many options with longer hair.

My hair is currently shoulder length and I have two rattails that I love but they look weird with longer hair so if I decide not to cut a shorter haircut I'll have to cut the rattails.

For the part of my life that I did have long hair they were basically pin straight and thin, it kinda looked like those childrens drawings of women when they have two lines for hair. I have noticed my hair getting thicker and more wavy(not much but it's there) with recent years but I have no idea how much of that thickness and wave will actually show once they're long.

I've been told that layers wouldn't look good in my hair type so ig that's not really an option for me.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any hair cut ideas for longer hair or would it be better to just keep cutting my hair short.

I haven't been able to go to my hairdresser for a while now and I'm itching for something new.
