Democrat vs Republican at Torchys

Anyone have a preference on ordering a democrat or republican at Torchys?

The democrats taste good, very tangy meat. Don't know if I can say the same about the republicans though, the taste on those was rancid last time

Anyways, ordered three democrats tonight for about 6.25 a pop. Best dinner I've had in a while actually, thanks

Last minute questions, interview tomorrow

Anyone have any input on the absolute best answers for these questions, first round tomorrow, non-technical panel, director has a background in IT project management

Honestly I've felt I've studied pretty well for it, based on multiple AIs they all conceded to about the same set of 10 to 15 questions.

When they ask why should we hire you, this to me is another huge selling point I'm curious about. How would you go about answering these what do you focus on?

Also, is there anything else that's going to make sure that I go ahead and seal an offer, the pool is made up of locals, I'm a candidate willing to relocate, strongly committed to the cause, this job is basically a dream come true, there's probably about 5 or so other contenders.

I feel like because I'm only 27 what reason is there to actually take me seriously versus someone that's 60 years old and potentially has institutional knowledge.

Thank you

Burger house, thank you

I just want to say that burger house closing down in this town is going to leave the same mark on me as the day harambe passed away.

This city will not be the same any longer, it's really sad.

You always forget how good you have it until it's gone

Rip, here.

I work for the university

Hi, I work for the university

I've been in Aggieland for nearly 10 years. If you have any questions about what it's like working for the university or what it was like prior to the days of AI, please feel free to comment below

I know when I've talked to students, some of them seem shocked like, why are you still here after all these years??

Well, the only way that you're getting an education here is because there are staff and faculty, you know, working daily, to ensure that your educational needs actually get met

If anyone actually asks a question, I'll give some concise thought. I cannot share everything because of anonymity, but I do know a lot of things as I've been here for quite a bit of time at this point

Anyways, thanks

Anyone have any crazy honor council stories

I'm genuinely curious, I've been here many years and luckily never had to deal with any of that, but I know at least two of my classes where we were all threatened to confess if not we would all be taken to the council

One of them was during the covid days, and I remember how crazy it was because I did actually search up the answer on google quickly, this was for a visual basic course. I think I still have the email somewhere, but I never confessed to it, you never should admit guilt. Luckily I got away with it

Anyone else have any crazy stories, even dealing with the weird people that run the whole panel

How do you make interviews less awkward?

I hate interviews because I feel like it's never a representation of what you're actually capable of and it's extremely awkward

I've got one this thursday, for a pretty big opportunity, I did my research on the panel for this round and they're all a non-technical background, so I'm not expecting this to be a deep grill, but either way, it's like, what gives?

I'm looking into mock AI interviews, probably with ChatGPT or something tomorrow or Wednesday, I'd prefer if I could fully simulate what the entire hour would be in advance even AI faces would help.

My concern is just freezing up on some question out of the blue, I'm not memorizing shit, no point to it, but I have outlined some attributes from the JD they're interested in and I used that to develop answers to most of what I believe are the questions

Starting with tell me about yourself, and why do you want this role

Would highly recommend. I'll be going back hopefully they let me in on the dealer

Finalists in an interview scenario question

For anyone who's perhaps been involved in this process.

Let's say that the role you're interviewing for is of a technical origin, but the interview panel's background is more managerial and technical project management oriented, could you still expect technical questions and deepdives, or will the questions revolve around purely behavioral or scenario-based types?

When it comes down to picking a finalist, let's say it's 2 to 3 candidates that are coming out as serious contenders. What specific attributes or characteristics breaks the tie to select the finalist? Is it accreditation, or some specific answer that was given during one of the questions?

Thanks

Haircut places in town

I've decided I wanted to go bald, and I'm done with this hairstyle.

I'm trying to find places in town that do this, but frustrated because every dumbass I dialed today tells me they're charging $30 or more to do this, when it probably takes a few minutes with a razor.

Not doing it on my own, do not even ask, I do not want to hear it. I'm over it right now and every place in this town is just beyond fucked with this.

I want it done by someone else, anyone who's done this in town for a few dollars???

THANK YOU.

Theology of the Body Questions

Context:

I've been looking to get back into my faith after a long stint of excuses. I'm 27, by the way

The reason I kind of dropped away though and it may seem, I guess, petty?, is because I just do not agree with the churchs views on chastity before marriage

I was at the confessional this past weekend, and unfortunately had to confess that, well, I did commit grave matter, and I masturbated, for many months at that without confessing it.

Then I asked the priest like, what do you do when you're lonely?

Like, how do you even not do the act, because are we not all human and crave some level of emotional connection? This desire, especially for men, is just there you can't really turn it off The one thing I do not agree with is pornographic content, and I 98% of the time stay far away from it, but just doing the act itself and it being grave matter seems like kind of a stretch

One more thing. Then, I thought, like, I'm moving to a different state to start a new life soon, and one of my plans is to find a committed partner, how do you deny sex in the relationship? Get married quickly so you can just start ravaging each other, I mean, is that not also an intentional sin?

I don't know. This is pretty much the only things I disagree with and have stood by my views on it

Anyone have any thoughts, I know it's a heavily discussed topic especially in RCIA and stuff. Maybe no one cares about it and it's just me Thanks

Interviewing Tips?

I have an interview in a little over a week

I'm not going to memorize the answers, seriously zero point in that, but this is an over six-figure position so I'm obviously taking it much more seriously

What do you do to not get overwhelmed when studying for an interview, especially when you're currently in a full-time job having to deal with that.

Thanks

AI Interview Prep and Certificates

Anyone have a solid AI Interview Prep tool they use that's reliable? I read about trackpoint.ai

I got through a phone screen yesterday and was invited to the first interview on the 21st. The applicant pool is pretty small but I'm guessing I'll be up against some other very good contenders and want to be fully prepared

The role is for a microsoft cloud engineer. I guess the second question would be are certs a pin needle when it comes to who gets the job? Like, if they preferred a cert that was listed in the jd should you get that. I have enough knowledge to obtain it in about the next few days

Thanks for help

Funny towing story

A few places in town have me assigned as a vulture calling a preferred towing line so we can snipe vehicles quickly

Some guy forgot to pay at the meter, I called the towing company and was laughing when he was running to try to get his truck that was being hauled away. Guy was running like apeshit and yelling

Can't wait for the next one this weekend

I was laughing my ass off all the way home

Thanks

Blaring music on the road

Coming home from work, I arrive at a stop light and some loser is blaring bass with the windows down it had to have been at least 100 or more decibels

Luckily he was behind me and my car windows were rolled up, doors sealed shut.

I got concerned because my car decal was vibrating a little, like holy shit

I sped off as soon as I could it was at least two or three minutes sitting there.

Came home and checked, the ring didn't appear to worsen. No muffled hearing or pain.

If you fucking do that kind of stuff you're an idiot.

Thanks

Anyone recently went through a phone screening and has any advice? I've got a phone screen interview coming up it's 30 minutes on Friday. Figured it's not gonna be as intense as the interview but want to just get some actual input other than what AI has told me

The job is a 1:1 match on paper so really hoping I nab this opportunity while I can

Thank you for any help

I had thumping with altitude shifts sometimes like going down stairs, its been like that since my viral etd started

The thumping in my left ear has been gone for three weeks now, so I'll call that a small success and hopefully it sticks

Fullness, crackling and tinnitus to go.

Thanks

I'm approaching half a year of this bullshit

Lately I've noticed the tinnitus has gotten quieter in my left ear when I don't sleep on it. The left ear is the one that ringing

In itself, the tinnitus is very mild, if not almost nonexistent, through most of my day

The fullness is a different story. It just sounds like the plumbing is still horribly backed up when swallowing. However a few days ago it dropped dramatically for the whole day

Honestly if I had to guess this is gonna be a 10 to 12 months or longer deal, I wouldn't be surprised. I'm hoping to be cleared up by summer but that seems like a long shot

I still get very slight abnormal pressure when driving or going down elevators, on random days, it's worse when the fullness is worse

Overall this is fucking bullshit. I've found though that my priority is just in other things in life now and this will pass when it wants too

I will be back for month 7.

Thanks
