Don't use that beta Frog, it's over for you
S18 Tech AFO Plunder List
These tiers are not ordered, TUNING is not taken into account for the placements. This is not just based on how good the character is by themselves, but also how well their kit meshes with AFO in any scenario. I'll explain just a few of the placements below but I'm too lazy to type a paragraph for every character right now.
Gentle - 90+ damage low-knockdown beamer Alpha with crazy range, 2 placement shields that reflect everything, very good movement with only a level 4 Gamma, he's just broken.
Monoma - On paper the #1 quirk for AFO, depending on the lobby you can get a pretty crazy custom quirkset + Monomas basekit is just very good. Downside is being stuck with the first thing you steal so you need to play very surgical.
Support Twice - Yes yes he just released, but this guy's is horrific. Once you learn how to use Alpha it can rack up a LOT of damage very consistently with 115+ damage crits, Beta is an amazing defensive and offensive move that pairs great with AFO, and Gamma is some of the best movement available that also happens to track and do 140 damage. Not to mention the basically infinite cycle of team heals you can get as well.
Strike Aizawa - Best 1v1 character in the game, amazing movement, this character is brainrot and only gets more annoying when paired with an AFO.
Tech Bakugo - The buffs were not necessary. High damage knockdown spam with great vertical movement is pretty gross.
Rapid Hawks - The new Alpha tracking did this guy wonders. His movement is very fluid, kit combos will with AFO, Alpha destroys mid-air targets, only downside is not having his Special but it's not necessary.
Assault Deku - Solid movement + his Alpha is better than AFO's, the armor on Beta can really help in a pinch, and can do 300+ damage combos relatively easily with his low knockdown combined with AFO's easy stuns from Beta and Gamma.
OFA Deku - Complete Alpha merchant, playing OFA without 5th gear or his melee just feels like shit. If his Alpha wasn't so broken he'd be much lower.
Support Nejire - Most of the value here comes from Gamma, which by itself isn't that much value. Nejire really needs her Special to function properly, without it she's extremely vulnerable and her Alpha, while still good, feels terrible to use while grounded. AFO with this quirk is a pocket healer, you just heal your teammates the whole time which can work but killing the enemy is a more effective strategy.

End of Season 17 Tier List
Most tiers are not particularly ordered and may be shuffled around within their group. Please keep in mind that a character being in a lower tier does not necessarily mean they need buffs, it could just be a factor of their kit itself being outdated/ineffective, and buffing would only create more problems (Ex; Strike Dabi needs an entire rework rather than damage or cooldown changes), this is just how well they perform on a general scale. Characters placements would be different from tournaments/scrims compared to ranked, but I tried to find a middle ground. For example, Ibara is insane in regular ranked matches, but usually ineffective in highly competitive 3 stack environments due to how easily she is focused out of the match without her team constantly body guarding, Froppy and Cementoss just fill the revive niche miles better. Placements also assume every character is being played with at least a mid-high amount of skill (Tech Mirio's average player is terrible but that doesn't change how broken he is if used by an actual decent player). Major bugs are included in the tiers, Ex; Assault Overhauls Gamma not working pretty often will affect his placement slightly. Not every character will have an explanation (because I am lazy), but I'll try to cover a few of the major/controversial ones. I am open to discussion on any placement but try to keep it civil please and thank you with a cherry on top.
Z - Best of the best META with 0 competition. These characters are disgustingly broken and guarantee a good performance as long as the player isn't holding a 0.3KD, massive nerfs needed all around.
S+ - Bordering on Z tier but didn't quite make it. Major kit nerfs (or reworks in Tech Shiggy's case) needed for all of them.
S - All characters here are significantly overpowered in at least one department and in need of a heavy nerf.
A - At least slightly stronger than average, but still relatively balanced. Characters here might need one or 2 small-medium nerfs/changes, but overall aren't that offensive, and probably aren't something I'd actively complain about.
B - B stands for balanced (mostly). I think everyone here is in a fine enough spot and doesn't currently need any immediate adjustments.
C - Not necessarily bad characters but they are much more situational than average, and have easily exploitable weaknesses. Good in the right circumstances but most of the time they fall short compared to the upper echelon.
D - Bad/outdated kit. Not quite bottom of the barrel because they do have a niche to fill, but they just aren't great at it, and probably heavily rely on certain TUNING builds to make themselves better.
F - Borderline unplayable in comp or high level lobbies. *Can* technically work, but the player has to be super cracked at the game, and even then the character is just heavily holding them back.
Strike Kirishima - Still gone almost completely un-nerfed since his release, only ever taking a -15 or so damage hit to his gamma recently. This of course didn't fix any of his problems whatsoever.
Tech Mirio - Falls victim of the fact that the large majority of his playerbase is pure dogshit so from an outside perspective he doesn't appear that broken. On PC with 100+ FPS Tech Mirio is completely invulnerable during ~90% of any fight, has an on-demand 200 damage “Fuck you” button to any move with a delayed activation or slow start-up, so even when he *is* technically vulnerable, he really isn't because there's always the passive pressure of his counter. If they fix the FPS issue with his Alpha then he'd be a bit lower, but as of now he is horrifically broken and just has the lowest skill playerbase in the game.
Cementoss - Matchup check character with a revive. If you can't fly at least 60% of the time, you lose. If you're indoors, you lose. If you kill his teammate, they get back up. The only time this character struggles is if the lobby is filled with fliers like Nejire, AAM, and Compress. He does take a noticeable amount of skill so I'll give him a point for that.
Compress - Gonna be a hot take for the common playerbase. Compress is a serious problem, and has been since the initial air movement changes many seasons ago. If you put Space Hop on him, he is near completely uncontestable by 90% of the cast. Grounded characters can go fuck themselves, beamers can't do shit, anyone without high mobility + solid melee/AoE attacks basically can't ever touch Compress unless he's an idiot. There's a reason he has such a high pick rate in tournaments and scrims, I'm almost thankful nobody plays him in ranked.
Tech Shig - Kind of hard to place. Without the immortal build I'd have him in A (maybe S) tier, with it he's max S+. I can't put him in Z anymore even with the immortal build because I really don't have many issues with him, he's kind of just a damage sponge with not much else going for him. I believe he needs a rework but we all know Byking hates doing reworks unless it's to make Twice even worse.
Strike Kendo - I've always been a Kendo hater so this isn't new to me, but the recent damage buffs made her even more terrible to deal with. I can see an argument for her being 1 tier lower, but I personally can't morally put her down any further. This character should be removed.
AAM - The nerfs didn't kill him but they certainly killed his playerbase. Not sure why everyone dropped him after he went from top 3 to top 10 but I guess that's normal for meta crutchers.
Tokoyami - Cant hate on him too much because he does require some brainpower but he is still super strong. Put accel on and he has wacky movement + a high damage, auto tracking, instant knockdown air melee. Without Ankh mode he's pretty ass besides the Beta stun, could reasonably move him down to A.
AFO - Still arguably low S tier, but the HP and Alpha nerfs hurt his versatility a good bit so he's being pushed further into the building camper niche.
Strike Hawks - I can see a point for S tier but I personally don't think so. His combos are very environment and/or Acceleration reliant, still has insane movement though, probably top 2 best horizontal movement in the game.
Rapid All Might - Would have him higher, probably S tier, but his Gamma is bugged and doesn't work over half the time so he lost a lot of value.
Mirko - Can probably go A tier but I just don't see her often so my experience is limited.
Assault Shig - Got turned into a wakeup catch bot after the gutting. He's not a dead character, but I really don't see him as an issue ever.
Shinso - 1v1 merchant. Not garbage but there's just better picks for what he does.
Assault Overhaul - Would be a bit higher if his Gamma worked consistently.
Assault Ochaco - Useless in 1v1s, solid in team fights. Kind of carried by her movement, if her beta had a longer cooldown she'd be pretty dogshit.
Mt Lady - Nonexistent in small form, lobby dependent performance in big form.
Assault Kiri - Really needs Electrification to do well in decent lobbies. Being a full melee character automatically makes him not great cause most other characters can ignore his existence, the Alpha buff was really strong but it doesn't fix his core issue of just not being able to fight anyone with a roll button, the ability to fly, or a shield.
Momo - Kinda sucks. Her utility is reliant on camping in a building or storm, and even then there's better campers who just get more value overall.
Tech Mic - Probably the worst Alpha in the game that doesn't even get much better with his boombox active. His other 2 moves are both just not good. His main value is his Beta, but the board is so predictable that other than third parties and knockdown bullying another low tier, this character is a throw pick.
