DBMS OPPE: Syllabus weeks + best preparation resources?

Hi everyone! I’m currently preparing for the IIT Madras BS DBMS OPPE and wanted some guidance from students/seniors who have already completed the course.

Could someone please clarify:

  1. Up to which week is the DBMS OPPE syllabus? Is it specifically Week 2, Week 3 and Week 7, or has the syllabus/pattern changed recently?
  2. What topics should I focus on most for the OPPE? Especially regarding SQL (W2/W3) and Python–PostgreSQL/database connectivity (W7).
  3. What are the best resources for preparation apart from the IITM lectures/slides?
  4. Are there any previous OPPE questions, mocks, GRPAs, GitHub repositories, or practice sets that you would strongly recommend?
  5. If you've already taken DBMS, how difficult did you find the OPPE, and what would you recommend doing in the last 1–2 weeks before the exam?

I'd especially appreciate responses from people who have already completed DBMS and appeared for the OPPE, rather than general DBMS advice.

Thanks! 🙏

Ohto Ceramic 0.7mm/1.0mm vs EnerGel — Is It REALLY Smoother?

Hey everyone! 👋

For those who have actually used both the Ohto Ceramic rollerball refills (0.7mm or 1.0mm) and Pentel EnerGel, how do they compare in terms of pure smoothness and glide?

I'm a college student and I’m basically on a never-ending quest for the smoothest pen possible 😂. I do a lot of fast note-taking, so I’m particularly interested in:

  • Which one has the least resistance/drag?
  • Does the Ohto Ceramic actually feel smoother than an EnerGel?
  • 0.7mm vs 1.0mm — which feels smoother?
  • Which one would you choose for long, fast writing sessions?

I’ve heard some people describe the Ohto Ceramic as almost “glassy,” but I’d really appreciate opinions from people who have used both side-by-side.

Thanks! 🙏

Finally got the Nike Vomero 18s for Papa👟❤️

Brought the most comfortable shoes I could find under ₹15,000 for my dad — the Nike Vomero 18s.

I’m a college student, so I had been saving up ₹5,000 from my pocket money over the last 2–3 months, and my dad paid the remaining ₹7,500. Got them from Myntra.

I did quite a bit of research before deciding, and after comparing a bunch of options, I finally found that even some of the ultra-premium Adidas models don't really match the Vomero 18 when it comes to pure comfort.

So honestly, it was a pretty easy choice in the end. 😄

Really happy with the purchase. He’s loving these, and I’m especially happy knowing that I saved up for a good portion of it myself. He previously had a pair of Nike running shoes that we bought in 2022 — I can’t really remember the exact model — but I’m super happy that he said these are almost twice as comfortable. ❤️

NPD. After trying Lamy, TWSBI, Pilot, Platinum and Sheaffer... My smoothest and fastest writer is finally here.

I'm a CSE student, so I spend hours every day writing algorithms, lecture notes, equations, derivations, and rough work. My priority isn't calligraphy or journaling, it's extremely fast writing with as little friction as possible.

Over the past few years I've accumulated a decent fountain pen collection:

  • Lamy Safari M
  • Sheaffer 300 M
  • TWSBI Eco M
  • Pilot Metropolitan M
  • Platinum Preppy M

I genuinely enjoy fountain pens, and each has its own strengths. But after all the experimenting, the pen I keep reaching for is... the Pentel EnerGel 1.0 mm.

I know that's probably an unpopular opinion here.

The EnerGel is simply the smoothest pen I've ever written with. It glides effortlessly, never skips, dries quickly, works at any writing angle, and lets me write as fast as my hand can move without breaking rhythm. For long note-taking sessions or exams, it has been unbeatable.

I even compared it against my Jetstream 1.0, and while I love the Jetstream's reliability, the EnerGel still feels noticeably smoother to me.

Don't get me wrong—I still appreciate my fountain pens. They make writing more enjoyable and have a character that gel pens can't replicate. But when my only goal is maximum writing speed with minimum effort, the EnerGel wins every single time.

I'm honestly just happy I've found the pen that perfectly matches my use case.

Maximum versatility was the goal. The beautiful colorway is a bonus.

Just got these Ultraboost 5X from AJIO for ₹9,200. My priority was to get the best possible shoe for maximum comfortfor daily casual wear in college, rotating them with my Air Force 1 White Lows and Air Jordans, while also handling the 3–4 short runs I do every week. My maximum budget was ₹10k.

I considered quite a few options (Pegasus, Novablast, Evo SL, etc.), but the comfort and versatility of the Ultraboost 5X ultimately won me over—especially at this price. I absolutely love this colorway too; it looks even better in person.

I've only worn them around the house so far, but the step-in comfort is incredible. Looking forward to seeing how they perform on longer walks, all-day college wear, and over the next few weeks of running.

For those of you who've owned the Ultraboost 5X for a while, how have they held up in terms of comfort, durability, and outsole wear? Any long-term impressions or tips are welcome!
