Should I just start walking my whole route?
I started last November as a driver and was offered a dispatch position a couple of months ago. I aced the test so much that leadership said I had the best results they've ever seen. I have always been one of the first drivers to return to station, averaging 180 stop routes. And, I always agree to the rescues. No violations or bad customer reviews, either. I accepted the dispatch role, only to be surprised by fewer hours, a less predictable schedule, and no pay increase. Regardless, I continued to perform to the best of my ability, and I got along with every driver well during my month and a half as a dispatcher. My leadership even told me at one point that I was doing well and promotions were in store if I kept doing as I was doing. Well, a few weeks ago, that all changed. I was placed back on driver status with no explanation from my leadership or the other dispatchers. Nothing but "We just need you to drive for now." We don't have a lack of drivers, so that shouldn't be the issue. It's awkward going to work now feeling as if I've been demoted. I don't want to be a bad employee, I just don't wanna try as hard anymore. I'm one of the few drivers with the most stops and still get asked to rescue people who don't have a sense of urgency on their routes. I want to start walking all my packages at every stop. I want to take all my breaks. I may return home much later, but maybe it will send a message to leadership that it's exhausting being an excellent employee and getting punished for it. What are yalls thoughts? Thanks for reading.
