Smh I hate Amazon
Anyone else hearing about this? Dispatch just let us know at standup that if you skip a stop, say stop 70 is right next to stop 30 so you know it out first, or it you skip to your biggest overflow to get it out of the isle, or if you go do your shittiest section first, that’s all now a scorecard hit according to Amazon apparently.
I started last November as a driver and was offered a dispatch position a couple of months ago. I aced the test so much that leadership said I had the best results they've ever seen. I have always been one of the first drivers to return to station, averaging 180 stop routes. And, I always agree to the rescues. No violations or bad customer reviews, either. I accepted the dispatch role, only to be surprised by fewer hours, a less predictable schedule, and no pay increase. Regardless, I continued to perform to the best of my ability, and I got along with every driver well during my month and a half as a dispatcher. My leadership even told me at one point that I was doing well and promotions were in store if I kept doing as I was doing. Well, a few weeks ago, that all changed. I was placed back on driver status with no explanation from my leadership or the other dispatchers. Nothing but "We just need you to drive for now." We don't have a lack of drivers, so that shouldn't be the issue. It's awkward going to work now feeling as if I've been demoted. I don't want to be a bad employee, I just don't wanna try as hard anymore. I'm one of the few drivers with the most stops and still get asked to rescue people who don't have a sense of urgency on their routes. I want to start walking all my packages at every stop. I want to take all my breaks. I may return home much later, but maybe it will send a message to leadership that it's exhausting being an excellent employee and getting punished for it. What are yalls thoughts? Thanks for reading.
But everyone who owns a long driveway also owns 3-5 extra vehicles and uses their turn around spot as a parking lot. It’s super fun backing down a 1/4 mile driveway in an EDV maxing out at 5 miles an hour toward a busy highway, to be greeted by a tree line so thick that you have no idea when tf it’s safe to pull out onto the road. Next time this happens to me.. not only am I using your perfectly manicured lawn to aid my escape, I’m punching the throttle and tearing your shit up
So… I got a new job lined up. It starts in about two weeks and I’m wondering if I should give a 2-week notice to my DSP.
They over hired for this prime and I’m sure there will be some cuts in a couple of weeks anyways, but I don’t think I’d be one of them. Specially bc this past week I got a speeding infraction and was given a route the next day bc the other available drives wouldn’t be able to do the 170+ stops on this route without help.
So… while I do think that giving a two week notice is the right and polite thing to do, I firmly believe they will put me on standby and not give me routes for the next two weeks if I do so, and I need income.
What are your thoughts?
And if you’re someone that put a notice on a DSP before, how did they take it?
Best kind of customer note
Friday, June 19th I sprained my ankle on my route (right before prime started, yay). I was almost done with my route I had like 30 stops left. They had someone split them with me and I finished the last 17 and went back to the station. I was scheduled to work the next day. They let me be off so I could go to urgent care. My boss was angry and was rude to the urgent care lady who needed the workers comp info.
They said nothing was broken and I should be fine to return to work. I was scheduled off the next two days so I just took it easy, elevated and iced. It’s now been over two weeks and I still have a lump on my ankle and it still hurts pretty bad. I had to ask every day to be a sweeper so I could try to take it easy. If I didn’t ask they would put me on a whole route. So yeah, I continued to work on my injured ankle because they weren’t going to give me paid time off to recover so I had no choice but to work. They don’t care I’m injured. I’ve continued to ice and elevate it but it’s still really bothering me. I’m afraid I tore a ligament or something. When I rolled my ankle I had all my weight on it and I felt and heard a pop. The urgent care only did X-rays. I reached out to my boss this morning and said I think I need to have it looked at again and asked if it would be alright if I did. Well, it’s been two hours and I haven’t gotten a reply. My question is, do I go back to the urgent care anyway? I’m afraid I’ll piss them off. I’ve been working for them for 5 years and this isn’t the first instance of them failing their employees in such a manner.
. They told me line up was 11:25 . Then my last shift i was “late” (i came in at 11:20) and parking is a HASSLE !!! Gotta walk like 3 mins with a jog to even get to our line up spot . They said i was late again so i asked when line up even WAS cause no one knows and i got no response about it and got told to “go do loadout and you can go home” . This is bullshit i cant wait to not be their lil slave pet . Fuck them . Fuck this job.
First time at this address, couldn't see the gate from the road. Yeah, backing out on a curve was fun. I fucking hate this.
Ive been driving helper routes with a new girl, a couple times a week for about a month now.
I check each and every delivery and read the notes, constantly have to redirect her where to go with her packages and just got hit with 2 “DNR”s from the route despite checking everything to a T on my deliveries that day. She was rushing due to wanting to be done early for the 4 day weekend, no biggie to me, we finished way ahead of schedule but did I get hit with her 2 DNR’s as I was the driver? It’s reflecting on all 332 package deliveries that day on my dashboard.
I got fired from the amazon warehouse for points right affer I fixed them, the HR said I could appeal it or wait 90 days to re apply at amazon, does that also apply to the DSP system? I previously worked for delivery and wanted to come back anyway I cant stand the warehouse work or schedule so it would be nice if I didnt have to wait 90 days.
Won’t get to my first stop until 12:30-12:45 🤠
So just found out amazon will no longer be providing us free water at all. Is this happening to other stations? They said its because people were stealing cases of water but I dont think we should all be punished for it. They definitely could of found out whos stealing the cases.
How often do you guys need to be rescued?
Specifically during this time of year when the workload gets a bit unrealistic and the heat hinders full physical productivity?
Awhile ago I was doing a delivery on an XL route. There was a dog in the yard barking but the customer received an automated text about five minutes beforehand asking to put their dog away. I was being nice and decided to give them a call. The customer themselves weren’t home but “someone else” was and they said “someone else” will put the dog away for a safe delivery…even though they also told me they saw the text. Why the delay?! Other dude came out after about two minutes after my call which took way too long in my opinion.
This was in my earlier days so I’m not sure how much power the customer has to be able to complain given that they picked up the phone.
What’s your mindset when you come across situations like this? Amazon is really on us drivers about our pacing after all. And customers are really delusional thinking we can wait 2 minutes, 5 minutes, even 10 minutes sometimes. They don’t know what we go through throughout the day.
If I knew how we as drivers could defend ourselves in situations like this, I feel like I would have just skipped it since this customer turned out to be a waste of my time.
I’m also not sure how recording our phone calls go are they always recorded by default?
TLDR: How far are we as drivers able to take things to speed up our deliveries when customers slow us down?
Tomorrow I start driving, with someone. But I was told to bring a cooler with like water and stuff. What do you guys usually bring?
92 stops only 178 packages 20 OV. Took my sweet time rental also only at 1500 miles
