Comfort zone vs moving abroad - Frankfurt

Hi everyone,

I’m a 32F from Czechia and I’ve just received a job offer in Frankfurt for 60k EUR/year. I’m super excited, but also honestly quite nervous.

The biggest thing on my mind is whether such a huge life change is actually worth it. Right now, I have a very comfortable life at home and even a slightly higher net income, so financially it’s not necessarily a big upgrade. But I feel like this experience could really shape me as a person, push me out of my comfort zone, and maybe help me grow professionally in the future as well.

I’d love to ask people living in Frankfurt a few questions.

First, is 60k considered a good salary for a single person? And is it difficult to find a flat for a foreign women with such salary? I don't mind the flat share either. The company address is on the North of the city.

I don’t drink much, party, or smoke. I mostly cook at home and live quite simply. What I really enjoy, though, is sports, nature, hiking, and long-distance trails, so I usually spend my weekends somewhere in the woods. On Google Maps, the surroundings of Frankfurt look surprisingly green, but I’m not sure what the reality is like. Are there good places nearby for hiking and nature escapes?

One thing I’m slightly worried about is how Czechs are perceived there. In the past, I’ve occasionally experienced some weird prejudice in Germany, so I’m curious about the general atmosphere. I’m also quite introverted, and being shy already makes communication difficult sometimes, especially when you feel like people may already have certain opinions about you.

I’d honestly really appreciate your thoughts, especially from people who moved to Frankfurt alone or native Frankfurt residents. It would genuinely help me decide whether to stay in my comfort zone or just go a little wild and try something new :)

Thank you! And if you’re from Frankfurt and would maybe like to grab a coffee or go for a walk sometime, feel free to DM me :)
