Thapar ECE or VIT Chennai CSE (core)(CAT 5)

These are the options i have, or drop.

Father prefers CSE, maternal uncle prefers VIT because of brand (he lives in bangalore working in VLSI industry).
But everyone online says take thapar because of better crowd, better brand, lower intake and better life, and placements too. Quoting that i am not getting main campus in VIT and that too category 5.

I am interested in ECE but equally fine with CSE too, will have to do Masters in either of options anyways as per my dad.

Thapar infra seems much better but one glaring issue it has is its cooked placements this year, only 50% placed with 8-9lpa average (?)

please help

Is thapar ECE bad?

So confused rn, what's the avg and median placements? Site says 12lpa but seniors say 8-9lpa, with only almost half the students placed.

I have viteee rank 39000~ and might get vit chennai cse cat4/5, or vit vellore cse(spec) cat 5. My parents and relatives who are in the industry say that vit has a much better reach in the industry.

I have interests in electronics but cse is equally fine as well, but the only thing bringing ece down is its placements. What if I couldn't crack GATE and didn't got a good mtech? Cse would atleast get me a decent package and some security unlike ece.
