Looking for feedback re: Octopus should not be eaten

{I originally posted this in r/seafood}

I'm really not sure if this is the right place for this comment; I'm fine with opinions to the contrary.

I've come to the conclusion, quite late in my life, that I find it morally offensive that people capture and kill octopuses for food. I used to enjoy it, properly prepared, but the weight of evidence that these creatures are intelligent and sensitive has upended my position.

Worry not - I'm not going militant about it. But I have calmly, for just myself, begun telling my local grocers that I don't think they should sell octopus (and why). I'm respectful; there is no attempt to end the practice. I'm not protesting or telling others what they can eat. I am, however, making my opinion known.

I guess I'm hoping that the idea will catch on, and others will decide to end consumption of these magnificent, sensitive creatures. If you have an opinion, either in agreement or to the contrary, I'm interested in hearing from you here. Just starting the conversation in a sane manner. Maybe it will help.
