Two different species?
Saw both of these little guys at low tide on a beach in Tacoma, WA. I thought maybe they were both eastern pacific reds but the octopus in the second pic looks to me like it has much longer arms. If anyone here could help me with ID that would be awesome. Thanks!

Octopus at Owen today 😍
I have always wanted to see one in the wild so it was super exciting to find this little guy, especially with my kids and friends from out of town to share in the experience. It was about the size of my hand (I’m guessing, I obviously did not touch it to measure). What incredible creatures!!
Recently finished this Golden sheen obsidian ring
I think the shifting colour matches the octo vibe..
Got myself a new driver 😂. What should I call him? DriveOcto?
Some thing I think people have forgotten about the recent discovery of Nanaimoteuthis haggarti
With the recent discovery of Nanaimoteuthis haggarti, I think a lot of people have ran with it being a giant Kraken that can take down mosasaurs and other large animals, but I think there’s some things that need to be discussed
The paper suggest a size range of 23-60(ish) feet and that is huge, with the size being so large partially because it’s hard to tell the true size of the animal just from the beak alone. So while it potentially could have gotten that large, I think people should be holding some restraint, and recognize that we don’t really know how big it actually was.
They asked for an ocean theme... so I put a giant octopus for my first mural project!
The first thing that came to my mind is to paint a GIANT TRIPPY OCTOPUS xD .Couldn't resist having it crawl right over the stone archway.
I was a bit nervous since this is my first time painting on a scale this big, but I’m so happy I got to bring my favorite creature to life on this wall. Swipe to the next slide to see the scale! Hope you guys like it.
tatted my spirit animal 🐙🥰
first tattoo and his name is tucker i love him to bits and pieces!!
A true survivor: The biggest, most battle-scarred Giant Pacific Octopus I've ever encountered. [OC]
We were 43 minutes into our dive and on our way back to shore when I saw a large arm with suckers swing out and over the kelp.
Last night I was able to film perhaps the largest giant Pacific octopus I've ever found out in the open. I was fortunate enough to spend about 30 minutes with it as it calmly made its way along the reef.
This octopus is a true survivor. I think it only had 1 or 2 complete arms as most had been bitten off into stumps. It had scars all over its body, missing suckers, and clear injuries to its arms.
This octopus has seen some things, that is for sure. Such an amazing encounter.

Oscar was reluctant to let me take one of his books to work.
He chills on top of 2-3 books on my nightstand, keeps them secure while I’m reading them.
