Heikegani crab . Actual species!!
This is an actual crab species. It has become a phenomenon as Japanese fishermen have thrown back thousands of crabs that have a carapace that look like a Samurais face and thought it to contain the soul of a Heike fallen soldier in the battle Genpai war in the 12th century. Over the years controlled selection of crabs with faces have flourished as they’ve been thrown back to the sea!! They’re tiny too! Yes I have one tattooed on my leg!!
