The time has finally come.

I acquired the Genzler Magellan 800 head in its release back in 2016. I rocked the 2 mark bass cabs since about 6 months before the Magellan with a Genz Benz shuttle 6.0 that I loved. It went down after the company was absorbed by fender. And as a matter of pure luck Jeff Genzler was back on the scene with another go. I followed. Loved the amp. I still use it. Every single gig. Its very easily seen well over 1000 gigs. I love it. Seriously. The mark bass cabs have served me well and will continue to pull weight during the week. Though, I recently scored a house gig every Friday and Saturday night. I took this as a sign to reward my hard work and dedication to supporting the emotional weight and poisonous egos of guitar players and not to mention the emotional instability and substance abuse of drummers on my shoulders as a bass player. Of course... So.... After 10... long.... years..... I am finally updating and making my rig Gucci Genzler from top to bottom. Yes. That's right rig nerds. Feast your eyes upon the house that jeff built!!!!

But seriously. I missed having an 810/610/410... not the extra size or weight but the sound/tone. At 50 lbs 1200w im hoping I get close. Thanks for reading. 🍻 😉 😜 👜 🔊

Headpiece lifting off neck

Hey guys. So I bought this bass used, and now that it’s adjusting to my environment and I’m getting a little buzz, I figured I’d give it a setup. As I went to do it, though, I noticed the headpiece was lifting off at a bit of an angle. How bad is this, how quickly do I need to address it, and how would I fix it? Thanks, y’all.

Did This Instead

Went into GC to look at a Ric. Left with this. 2007 EBMM HH. I'm mainly a Fender guy.....this thing plays like butter. Very pleased and what I believe was a good price. Thanks to my Mrs. at her insistence.

Who else loves the 5 string American P Bass?

I feel like they don't get enough love, especially in metal. I absolutely love the tone and feel. I've used one of these on every tour and album since 2011 (I play in Wretched). The green one in the second photo is my new one. Been looking for it for years

MarkBass Guitars - School Me

A friend is willing to sell me his MarkBass GV 5 GOG with original gig bag. I know nothing about them. What is the good, bad and ugly on these basses? He is asking $700 for it.

Identify Bass on Picture

I saw this bass on a live show and really wonder what build it is. It is headless and five string. Stage light might be misleading, it has a gradient spacy look on the body. Frets aren't fanned as far as I saw and no passive/active switch from the looks of it.

Can you help me identify the brand and exact model?

Burnt apple red does something to me…

Love the finish on this Stingray Special. She’s swamp ash and maple, weighs 8.2lbs

Finally found a 5 string I'm going to keep. Sire M2 5 String.

I've purchased 3 other 5 string basses before from a cheap LTD PJ bass to an Ibanez BTB745 (which i really wanted to like) but there would be playability issues with all 3 that had me return them. Recently got a Sire V5R and was impressed by the quality for price so thought I'd give another 5er a go (and this time with a 35" scale!) and landed on this. So far it plays and sounds amazing right out of the box. I may need to raise the high side of the pickups a smidge, but other than that, it's damn near perfect.

I saw this bass and had to have it.

Just got this Lakland skyliner 44 64 to my bass family. It's heavier than all the others but I'm loving the feel and the way it sounds.

Beginner Question

I’m thinking about learning bass. My dream is to make it sound like Justin Chancellor from TOOL. Everyone says when I eventually buy one, since I can’t afford a Wal, it should be an Ibenez GSR, but I just saw an ad for an Aria guitars replica cliff burton SB-CLB and it looks so badass! Does anyone know what category bass this falls into? (P or J). Would this work or should I stick with Ibenez?

A little behind the scenes of a no-rehearsal gig * How our band handles arrangements on the fly

This video is mainly for musicians who aspire to get into a working band rotation in the future.

I get asked pretty often how some of the bands that hire me can have tight arrangements even when we don’t rehearse together.
This is a little example of how it works for us. Our MD is giving us instructions through our in-ears while we’re already playing Boogie Oogie Oogie. We also had two musicians subbing that night — guitar and keys — which makes communication like this even more important.

A big part of these gigs isn’t just knowing your instrument or learning songs — it’s being able to listen, understand directions quickly, and react to the rest of the band in real time.

Hopefully this gives someone trying to get into this kind of work a little behind-the-scenes look at how we do it.
