My Baby.
She’s nothing special. Just a MIM P-Bass deluxe. I had ordered her back in 04 for my sixteenth birthday. As it played out, Fender had just modified these to add the bass and treble knobs. Took six months for it to finally ship. Since then, she’s played at least a hundred shows and been through hell and back. She’s beat up and I’ve had to solder some of the wiring on the knobs. But she’s my ride or die and plays amazing. I’ll never get rid of her. The only thing I’ve contemplated is throwing a black pick guard on.
Has anybody else tried these flats yet?
Not a HUGE flats guy but they sounded great in demos and I love Pinos playing. I wish they had a ‘medium’ but I’d rather the extra light over the heavier set anyways.
I’ve only had em on for a few hours and I just haven’t been able to put my Jazz bass down. Also - it feels kinda wrong to put em on a Jazz bass but boy do they sound great.
After 1.5 years with my Chinese "Bullfighter" brand bass...
In response to the 5 string Bullfighter Chinese bass last week...
This little guy is a heavy hitter! It's got 🔥 🔥🔥 HOT pickups, so I scoop the 3 band EQ and usually slap it out, but I let the strings go half-dead, so now it's more of my Chich Bernard Edwards style humbucker sound. I play it through the Behringer straight up no effects and it sounds great. Usually just through the single 4x10, but I'll hook them both up if I want to sound extra funky or just piss off the neighbors
This little bass holds it's own, I did minor fret work to it, polished it with some beeswax oil, and I just make sure to keep the batteries fresh. Definitely my top two basses that I've had
Sitar like sound - G string
The open G is ringing out a bit extra, giving off a bit of a sitar effect. I changed the string thinking it may have been a damaged string but still no luck.
Could it be the nut? How’s the best way to fix?
Thanks!
Best way to remove gunk from frets?
As per title I have green funk on the frets of my bass I bought recently. I don't really want to remove strings as I recently put new flats on. What's the way to remove this?
Note - the gunk seems to be hardened onto the frets so it's almost easier to flake it off than rub with a cloth if that makes sense?
Thanks!
Warmoth neck or not?
Hi,
I recently bought a bitsa bass online, the seller claimed the neck is Warmoth, I was curious about the body so when changing the strings and cleaning it I checked out the neck pocket. This is what I found on both body and neck. It’s a burgundy mist jazz bass.
Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
just brought home my first official bass!
Last year I decided I wanted to join a band having never played an instrument before. I was too broke to get anything of my own so the guitar player in my band let me borrow me her bass, which i’ve been learning and playing on for about a year. I work in vintage clothing so I knew I wanted a vintage bass and fell in love with the alembic style basses. I found a few on marketplace but I don’t know much about gear and was worried I’d buy one that needs a lot of work, but then I found this beauty at a used instrument store that’s been well tested and decided to go for it. They even let me finance it, which is super helpful. I’m super stoked!
She’s a 1977 Japanese made El Degas
What would you consider this color on Bass?
This has been my main guitar for a while, but never knew what to call the color on it. I couldn’t tell if it was a Sunburst, or tobacco burst, etc.
If it good enough for Watt...
For all you newbies or vets....don't ever be shy or ashamed about rockin' a Squier.
A-String ringing when played open. The nut needs to be replaced. Anything I can do to tamper the vibration in the meantime? I have foam under the bridge but that didn’t help
I picked up a Squire Affinity Series PJ bass built in Indonesia in 2019. If I wanted to upgrade the pick ups, what could I buy that would drop right in?
Spotting the bassist
If you’re a bit too far from stage to tell which of the three guitarists is actually a bassist, and can’t make out the headstock to count the strings, just look for which player is having the best time. Always works
(Band is Bipolar Weather from southern AZ)
Finally did it, I’m moving on from my Rickenbacher
After playing a Rickenbacker for almost a decade I have finally purchased a new bass. It came about when I had to rent something a bass for a gig and realized how much more comfortable other basses are.
