New project I’m making. Inspired by Femme Fatale, early DFA1979 etc. I was listening to likes of Daughters and stuff while writing these songs.
I want to maybe go into a more industrial direction with new material.
Revived some demos and got them a new mix/master. Releasing another one at the end of the month.

Anyone else slightly disappointed by Private Lives?
Not a bad song by any means but just seems a bit run of the mil for DFA1979? Highlights are the QOTSA esque riffs and the vocal performances (No-one has to know about us 🗣️)but nothing screams special to me yet.
What I loved about DFA1979 was that they didn’t really sound like other drum/bass bands in their riffs and arrangement. They played unique and pretty sick riffs (Government Trash, Blood on our hands, Pull Out etc).
I don’t really like Royal Blood as I find them quite stale and their songs could be played with a guitar and I wouldn’t really feel like it was missing anything. I don’t think DFA1979 are exactly like RB but they’re starting to go into that direction.
This very much could be just a me thing.
My studio beats are acting up recently. So when I take the right one out, leave the left one in and connect it to the my phone they both play. Whenever I take the left earbud out, it stops playing audio.
It says the left one is at 100% as well.
I’ve manually reset them, cleaned out the port and connectors but nothing. I haven’t let them die though so it might be that.
I want a 5 string multi-scale bass but I’ve nowhere near the funds for a Dingwall.
I’ve had my eyes on the Harley Benton MSB for a while now and I’m happy enough with it from the reviews/feedback from people who own it.
The only thing putting me off is everyone mentions how the dark the tone is. I like my tone to be brighter in general.
What electronics/pickups would you recommend to achieve a similar sound as the Dingwall?

I’m playing a small set for the Fleadh this year and I’ve been asked do Teir Abhaile Riu by Celtic Woman. Got the song yesterday and I’m struggling with the chord changes and where/when to accent chords as I’m not that familiar with trad in general. I also think there’s a lack of bass in trad in general from what I’ve looked up.
Is this just a learning curve? Any tips/exercises to improve my feel would be great.

I’m in a cover band - mainly blues. I don’t really like the music, it’s not organised (every changing setlist etc we have unconfirmed dates this month, and maybe a festival or two in August/September) and it’s also 2hr (1hr to and back) commute for me.
Nothing happened while I was free for the past 9 months really - I’ve been approached by an artist who’s been signed to play a pretty big event in a month. He wants to rehearse at least 4-6 times this month which I love personally. Now the blues band is getting more success but we don’t really rehearse or plan set lists and I’m just kinda done with it? We recently played a bar and I found out at the gig that they are looking us to play every Sunday. They didn’t mention this at all to me.
How do I go about it? I want to focus on the artist’s set and don’t want to be thrown new songs every week by the blues band.

I’ve probably made a post similar to this so I’ll keep it short.
Why do creatives/musicians struggle to be organised? I was asked by a guy I know last Wednesday to play a paid 2 hr gig with him on the 19th. I asked for a setlist that same day (most of the time I’m learning songs from scratch as I’m mainly a metal musician and I’m starting a new job so will be busy during the weeks) he said he’d send it over in two days. Asked again on Saturday and he said Tomorrow. Sunday comes and he asks for my number because he’s sending the setlist now. It’s been over a day.
Why do people not care about this shit? If I don’t know the songs on the day then it’s not just me that looks bad. WE look bad.

TLDR - I’m going to get lessons from a bassist in a famous band I really like. He asked me for links of me playing. I make covers on Instagram, one of his songs was covered. Is this fair use? And would get annoyed or even take action?
I could be overthinking but would really like some advice as it’s a great opportunity and I don’t want to miss out.
