Swapped neck from a spare ST-62MN SB Vintage Series
Installed luminous stickers over the dots and sidedots (very cheap dots but they actually have a nice glow)
Drilled the tuner holes to fit modern black ones
Shielded all cavities with copper and sanded down the non conductive paint on the bridge
Installed creme Aliexpress pickups (neck pickup seems like a bridge spacing but since it's half bladed I don't mind)
Replaced the broken battery cover with a custom 3D printed blank
Not entirely satisfied with the Roswell pickups, which sound very good but a little too modern for my taste, I replaced them with some Tonerider alnico 4 classic pickups. I still have to test them out thoroughly, but so far I'm very satisfied, especially with the crunch sounds. The (reverse) zebra color scheme is also a perfect fit with black fusion T.
My 2019 CST-24 was originally blue, but the colour gradually faded to green on the front and a horrible green-brown on the back. So it was time for a refinish. I also top the opportunity to add wood so I could carve out the control recesses and move the tuners into more direct pull position. Oh and fit a scooped input jack directly in the side.
Got a Harley Benton for my daughter. Makes me think I've been wasting my money on Fenders. To be clear, the American Tele I've got is much better, but not 20 x better which is what it cost.
I just created this short out of curiosity, but I’d like to know if anyone else is crazy enough like me to record an album using this tiny device.
"Using this little device, I’ve thrown myself into recording two EPs simultaneously for Mtvare. Through this process, I’ve learned how to properly record, mix, and master, and I’m very proud of the sound I’m achieving. I’m really looking forward to sharing both EPs."
Plan is to do the top of the body and headstock butterscotch and keep the rest natural then seal with a clear coat. Will post an update when I have some progress with it!
I want to start learning electric guitar to play covers of all types of genres but mainly hip hop/rnb. But without breaking a bank as I don’t know if I’ll like to play. I wanted to know if there are better deals for €160 than this as an amp is not needed. Should I get a tuner? The stjamster has a built in preamp so I can just plug my headphones and play which is great. Let me know
I'm considering to buy the Victory Guitar Kit and wanted to ask your opinion on it. Are the pickups good? How are the tuning mechanics? What does the wood feel like? I already have two guitars, one of them is an ESP Arrow with a Mahagoni fretboard, does the fretboard of the Kit feel similar? Thanks for your help!
Hi! Last time, I posted my Tele with a swapped black pickguard (laser-cut from plexiglass). Today, I'd like to share a few thoughts on my latest modifications.
I've read that the grounding on this guitar is usually pretty bad, partly because the bridge isn't sanded underneath, which stops the ground wire from making a good connection. However, on my guitar (bought in December 2025), this sanding was already done from the factory! Even so, I went ahead and shielded the entire guitar with copper tape, and the result is amazing!
Under my last post, some people also advised swapping the factory 250k pots for 500k ones. Surprisingly, my guitar already came with 500k pots! I decided to replace them anyway so I could wire up a coil split. The pickups you can see on the guitar are ceramic Fleors from AliExpress, and honestly, I feel like they sound almost exactly like the stock ones.
Overall, doing all these modifications was a ton of fun and a great learning experience. It didn't cost much at all, and it's definitely worth tinkering a bit with your cheap guitars!
I get the feeling that at some point during the production of the TE-20HH, they started introducing these upgrades like sanding the bridge for better grounding, upgrading to 500k pots, and changing the pickguard mounting holes.
Since Thomann bought Höfner, I feel like it may affect this model as it is a copy of Höfner basses.
They might just stop selling it so people buy the Höfner instead. They could slap the Höfner name on it to sell more of it (Though that'd just be the Ignition line but cheaper, unless they raise the price too). They could change the design to be closer since they don't need to worry about copyright anymore. Or maybe nothing will change.
I can't really say I found this info. Didn't find it on the HB website, nor did I found it on the horrible Tesla pickups website. Has anyone opened the guitar and knows their resistance values? Thanks. The HSS one.
I am a young beginner and I wanna make my guitar truely mine so if any suggestions please lemme know
I've been eyeing the HB multi scale 7 BBB for a while now, but I've recently stumbled across the AKLOT multiscale 7 on youtube. the AKLOT has very similar reviews compared to the HB, and each guitar has similar properties and their own ups and downs. This has left me confused as both guitars seem like great deals. could anyone tell me which one is better short term, long term, overall, etc? Any help is appreciated
I had some more expensive 7s over the years. Some had EMGs, some had passive Duncans. I don't play 7s much and they always collected dust. Dumb to let a 700$+ guitar collect dust so all of them came and went.
I want to have some cheap 7 to just fool around, but in the past I read the pups of the cheap HBs are pretty lackluster. Low output and muddy. Is that (still) true?
New here, but wanted to share. Gift from my wife and kids for Father's Day. There is a long story, here, that I'll spare you, but this lefty beauty is now mine. Harley Benton ST-Modern Plus. (Gee, I hope Fender doesn't sue me for this!)
