SEAT Leon 1.5 TSI DSG Random Battery Discharge

Hello everyone.

I'd like to share an issue I'm having with my SEAT Leon to see if anyone has experienced something similar or has any advice.

My car is a 2023 SEAT Leon 1.5 TSI 150 HP DSG, purchased in November 2023. During the first two years it was absolutely faultless. It passed every scheduled service at the official dealership without any issues and had never given me any problems.

Recently, however, something very strange started happening. Completely at random, the battery is discharged after the car has been parked. Sometimes it starts normally, while other times the battery is almost completely flat, even though no lights or accessories were left on.

I took the car to the official dealership for inspection. They tested the battery and told me it was in good condition, and none of their diagnostic tests found any faults. They also checked the charging system, which apparently was working correctly.

Despite that, the problem continues. On several occasions the battery has gone flat unexpectedly, which makes me suspect there may be a parasitic battery drain or that one of the electronic control modules is not going into sleep mode after the car is switched off. Since the issue happens randomly, it seems difficult to reproduce during a standard workshop inspection.

I'm particularly concerned because the car is still relatively new and has always been serviced according to the manufacturer's maintenance schedule.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue with this generation of the SEAT Leon or with another VAG Group vehicle? If so, what turned out to be the cause? Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated, as I'd like to have some ideas before taking the car back to the dealership.

Thanks in advance!

Best Archetype for Billie Joe Armstrong's American Idiot tone?

I'm trying to recreate Billie Joe Armstrong's guitar tone, especially from American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown. I'm chasing that huge, punchy sound with beautiful, forward mids.

I'm using Neural DSP Nolly X, but for some reason I feel like the Crunch amp isn't getting me there. Without an overdrive pedal, the gain feels overly saturated and fuzzy rather than tight. Maybe I'm not using the gain control correctly, but right now the tone feels too crunchy and I can't seem to get those rich mids that define those records.

At the moment I'm using Cab 2 with an SM57 and an MD421 (mostly for the low end).

Do you think Nolly X is the best Archetype for this kind of tone, or for punk rock/pop-punk in general? Has anyone here managed to get close to the guitar sound on American Idiot or 21st Century Breakdown? I'd really appreciate any advice, whether it's amp choice, cab, microphones, EQ, or anything else.

Thanks!

From a Valeton GP200LT to plugins only... anyone else?

I've recently realized that I'm barely using the full potential of my Valeton GP200LT. At the moment, I pretty much only use the JCM800 amp model and a couple of ChopTones IRs.

Lately I've been trying several Neural DSP Archetypes, and honestly they've impressed me. They cover pretty much everything I play (mainly metal, punk rock, and hard rock), and they feel incredibly versatile.

Since I only play at home and never gig live, I'm starting to wonder if it even makes sense to keep the GP200LT. I'm considering selling it and switching completely to plugins.

Has anyone here gone down the same path? Did you end up using only plugins? Do you miss having a hardware modeler, or have modern plugins become good enough that you don't look back?

I'd love to hear your experiences before making a decision.

Has anyone installed Tonerider Rebel 90 in a Gretsch G2217?

Hey everyone,

A while ago I asked here about getting a better tone out of my Gretsch G2217, and the advice I got was super helpful—so thanks for that.

Now I’m thinking about doing a pickup swap. I’d really like to get a P90-style sound, and I’ve been looking at the Tonerider Rebel 90, which seems like a great option.

My main concern is compatibility. I’m not sure about the exact dimensions of the stock pickups in the G2217 or how easy it is to fit something like a Rebel 90. From what I understand, it’s humbucker-sized, but I’d love to hear from someone who has actually tried it on this specific guitar.

For now, I’d only replace the bridge pickup.

So my questions are:

Has anyone installed a Tonerider Rebel 90 (or similar P90-style pickup) in a G2217?

Was it a direct fit, or did it require any modifications?

How did it sound compared to the stock Broad’Tron pickup?

Any issues with height, mounting, or wiring?

I’m aiming for more clarity, bite, and that classic P90 character, but I don’t want to get into heavy routing if I can avoid it.

Thanks in advance!

GRETSCH G2217

Hi everyone,

I bought a Gretsch G2217, and I’ll be honest—I chose it mostly for its looks. I just fell in love with the design and couldn’t resist it.

I’ve been playing Guns N’ Roses songs quite a lot lately, and that got me wondering about something. I’m curious how this guitar compares in terms of sound and feel to more traditional Les Paul–type guitars. For those of you who own a Gibson Les Paul or similar single-cut guitars, how would you describe the difference in tone and overall playing experience?

I’m also thinking about whether switching to a Les Paul-style guitar would actually help me get closer to that classic Guns N’ Roses tone, or if I can already get close enough with the G2217 by adjusting my setup, amp, or pedals.

For anyone who owns or has played the G2217:

What styles of music do you use it for?

What are your honest opinions and impressions of it?

How does it sit in a mix compared to other guitars you’ve played?

I’d really appreciate any feedback or experiences. I’m still learning and trying to understand how much of the “tone” comes from the guitar itself vs everything else around it.

Thanks!
