Firmware mod beta testers wanted

I’m looking for some people to beta-test some upcoming GP-200 firmware mods. I’m especially interested in anyone with a Chinese-region/Chinese-locked GP-200, I have been working on an unlocking mod. That said, all GP-200 owners are welcome! The more different units/configurations we can test, the better.

You’ll need to be comfortable testing unofficial firmware, following instructions carefully, and reporting anything that doesn’t work as expected. Bugs and the occasional need to revert to stock firmware are possible.

What am I doing wraaang

Windows 11 as usual. Audio device photos are both inclusive and exclusive (as in, I've tried all permutations).

Software is V1.8.1. I know I'm missing something super obvious but I just can't point it out.

Also tried older software, running as admin, 3 USB cables and 3 ports. I just wanna install the tuner mod. I also cannot load NAMs.

I've restarted my computer every time something changes.

EDIT: SOLUTION FOUND! I had to run the Software as Admin while keeping the Task Manager open. Bro, why does this have to be so tricky lmao

I built a free desktop editor + preset backup tool for Valeton GP-series pedals (GP-5 tested)

Hey all — I own a Valeton GP-5 and the one thing that always bugged me is that there's no way to back up your presets. One factory reset and everything's gone, and there's no official desktop app to organize your tones.

So I built one: GP Multi Editor. It connects over USB and lets you:

- Edit everything live (amp, cab, drive, delay, reverb — models, knobs, on/off, chain order), and it follows the pedal's footswitch back

- Back up all 100 presets to a single file

- Import/restore any patch in one click, 100% faithful (every parameter, bypass state, effect order)

- Share tones with other players as files

The editor is free. The full preset librarian (backup/organize/import) is a one-time unlock — no subscription. Works offline after a one-time activation. Windows only for now.

It's fully tested on the GP-5. The rest of the GP line (50/100/200) shares the same system but is experimental — the free version lets you check if it connects to your unit first.

Fully independent project, not affiliated with or endorsed by the manufacturer. I made it because I wanted it.

Would love feedback from anyone with a GP pedal: gpmultieditor.tonscott.com.br

GP-200 preset to make the signal as close as possible to a guitar plugged directly into a Scarlett

Hi everyone,

I’m using a Valeton GP-200 connected to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Gen, and I want to create a dedicated GP-200 preset for using amp plugins in Reaper (Neural DSP, AmpliTube, etc.).

What I want is not to use the Scarlett's LINE input. I want to keep the Scarlett set to INST, just as if my guitar were plugged directly into it.

The idea is to create a preset on the GP-200 called something like “PLUGIN / DI”. When I select that preset, I want the GP-200 to output a signal that is as close as possible to:

Guitar → Scarlett INST

but with the GP-200 in between:

Guitar → GP-200 → Scarlett INST

Basically, I want to configure the GP-200 so that its output level and signal are appropriate for the Scarlett's instrument input, without adding any amp, cab, EQ, effects, etc.

Then I could simply select the “PLUGIN / DI” preset on the GP-200 and use any amp plugin, without having to change cables or adjust the Scarlett's gain every time.

Has anyone done this with the GP-200? What settings/output level do you use to get the closest possible result to plugging the guitar directly into the Scarlett's INST input?

I’m particularly interested in gain staging and output level, and whether there are any GP-200 settings that could affect the impedance/feel/tone compared with plugging the guitar directly into the Scarlett.

Thanks!

I built a working custom firmware mod for the Valeton GP-200's tuner, and it's available to install now

Sixth post in an ongoing series reverse-engineering the Valeton GP-200 multi-effects pedal (NXP i.MX RT1062, Cortex-M7).

This is the one where "can this be modded" finally gets a yes you can use yourself, not just a proof of concept on a bench.

What's in it:

  • Full RE of the front panel: the LED frame format behind every footswitch and effect-block indicator, and the complete 20-screen registry decoded id by id, including two screens with no normal menu entry, a live on-screen debug log and an undocumented factory hardware-monitor/QC mode.
  • How the tuner actually works internally, including why a note at 0, +3, and +5 cents produces a byte-identical screen on stock firmware, and the deadband/box-range coupling that had to be solved together to tighten the tuner without shrinking the display's range.
  • The mod itself: deadband tightened from 5 cents to 1.5, tuning state mirrored onto three footswitch LEDs, and an optional strobe-style display, built from a single retargeted call into unused flash space.
  • A self-contained patcher that runs entirely in your browser: point it at your own stock firmware image, and it verifies and patches it locally.

Only verified against the full-size GP-200 so far, not the LT or JR (different firmware entirely, not just a smaller panel). If you own one of those, I'd like to hear from you.

valeton gp200 vs ampero II stage

Software 1.8.1 has been released

Just as we (sensibly) predicted, this new software update brings NAM A2 conversion to SnapTone.

Would be good to know if it brings more reliable updating and transfers on Windows 11. I only have Windows 10 at the moment so I can't check until I get a Windows 11 VM set up.

No new firmware, use Firmware 1.8.0

Conversions: NAM 2 too much compressed

That snaptone conversion, although I'm pretty sure the gp200 is hardware-wise the equivalent of a potato, is a step back from the great product the gp200 was before entering the NAM territory. What are your opinions? Just bought it 1 month ago (refunding period expired) and disappointment is growing in me.

Version 1.2.0 is out! Turn your GP200 INTO LOOP Station. And Apply FS assignment to all Patches with a single click.

Now you can turn your GP200 into a LOOP Station, record and control loops from FS Contorl with unlimited layers and stacks. Another major feature is you can now apply your FootSwtich Control mapping to all the patches at onces. So no need to go into every single patch to manage FS control and patch volume.

WebApp to control your GP200 now with looper and FS control assignments. Runs in everything that has a broswer and MiDi Input (Windows, Andriod, MacOS, Linux)

And we've also added some quality of life changes. Do Enjoy!

Giving my Valeton GP-200LT another chance — any tips for learning to build presets?

Hi everyone!!

I've had my Valeton GP-200LT up for sale for a while because I was planning to sell it and put the money towards a new guitar. In the end, I haven't liked any of the offers I've received, and deep down I think I can actually get a lot more out of this pedalboard. I guess the only thing I really need to do is experiment with it more and stop obsessing over getting the "perfect tone."

I'd also like to ask you guys what you think the future looks like for this unit. Do you think Valeton might release a major update at some point, maybe something that would allow us to load NAMs from Tone3000 or other platforms more easily? And, most importantly, do you think they might ever fix the problems with Windows 11?

Anyway, I'm going to give it another chance because I think the problem is probably me, not the pedalboard 😂. I really want to learn how to build presets properly. Do you guys know of any good free presets, maybe some Guns N' Roses presets, that I could download and reverse-engineer to understand how they were built?

Thanks everyone!

P.S. I guess I'll have to sell my dog if I want to afford a new guitar now hahaha.

MIDI assignments work sometimes, then don’t

Hi everyone,

I’ve been pulling my hair out trying to figure this out. I’m trying to run backing tracks for my band using MIDI-capable foot switches on my multi effects pedal (Valeton GP-200), which is capable of sending either CC or PC signals. I want to map foot-switches to play, stop, record, go to certain markers and perhaps control effects within logic down the line.

I set the foot-switches all to channel 1, cc3 (I read that this is a traditionally ”unused“ channel, data 0-7 respectively. I went into controller assignments, used the learn feature to map each function to one of the switches. It seemed to work! Then a few minutes later it didn’t anymore. I tried to delete the mappings and redo them and it still didn’t work. The correct midi code would still show up next to the timecode when I pressed the footswitch, but it wouldn’t execute the command. I tried to reset the midi drivers and remap again. Same issue, it worked for a bit, then just stopped.

Any ideas?

What power supply should I use if I want my unit on a pedalboard?

It requires a DC 9v 1000 mA connection, but I can't find any multi output power supplies that have an output over 500 mA
