Have you ever gotten a bass so comfortable it “killed” your other basses?
I just got the Ibanez Mode series 5 string. It is hands down the most comfortable 5 string I’ve ever played. Its very light and balances like a headless with the ultralight tuners. Super thin neck with smooth satin finish. Perfect.
I can’t see myself playing any other bass live now as this bass allows me to have proper technique without any effort. Plus it sounds awesome! Love the neck pickup solo.

Pocket Jewelry scales recommendation
I would like to elevate my favourite SAK - Compact with some premium scales.
Are there any practical differences between titanium, stab wood and carbon fiber? Except the weight difference and tool slots.
What scale material is the best for the premium feel happy to put it in my pocket SAK?
Biggest bass purchase disappointment?
What bass you craved and finally bought turned out to be a big disappointment due to manufacturing issues or you just not liking it?
Tldr: bought my dream Dingwall and hated it
I grew up listening to metalcore and in the late 2010s Dingwalls were all the rage. I couldn’t afford one at the time but Dingwalls ascended to holy grail state where other basses weren’t even “real” basses to me. I know silly, but I was a teenager gobbling up all the Dingwalls are unconditionally awesome content.
When I finally saved enough and sold my nice Sandberg I got a D-roc standard. The perfect blend between a unique design and extended range.
Long story short. I hated it and it broke my heart. Don’t get me wrong, it was as well made as factory basses can be. Perfect fretwork, hardware, finish.
But for me it was an ergonomic nightmare. The neck was very thick for a “fast” bass and had a weird D like shape. The multiscale was very straining for my left hand even after giving it quite some time to adapt. But I couldn’t adapt my baby hands to those huge first frets. Also small banjo frets? I genuinely don’t know why someone prefers them.
Right hand felt so weird too. Anchoring on angled pickups didn’t feel right and gave me a weird strike angle and distance. The body, even being objectively a huge upgrade from classic thunderbirds was still sitting very awkwardly and “pushed to the left” both on a strap or standing up.
I couldn’t justify the tone for all of this. I gave the D-roc a chance for around a year until I finally decided to sell it.
I might give a chance to a super P in the future but I’m very sceptical now.
I’d like to read about your disappointments!!
Best pitch shift in a mini pedal?
I’m looking for a “wild card” pedal for my otherwise bread and butter board. Just for modulation, noise gate and primarily pitch shift.
So far I tried the Valeton GP-5 but the pitch shifter sadly sounds pretty bad. Best result I’ve had is with a Zoom B1 but I don’t like the form factor.
Would tonex one or HX one work for this application? Is there anything else I’m missing?
Pick your fighter. Choose wisely.
What is more essential, 2nd gain stage or compression?
Yamaha BB735A driving me insane - dead E and B string
My Yamaha BB735A (Nordstrand NP5FA, NJ5FS) B and E string sounds muddy even with a fresh set of 105-130 Daddario nickels.
I’ve tried playing with the action, pickup height and different strings but can’t make it work. Any ideas? I already bought it with the Nords so I cant compare it to the stock pickups.
