I have owned a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife for most of my life but I was never a collector. I bought a Spartan 20 years ago, a Cadet 10 years ago and a few years ago I bought a Sportsman (because I thought I lost the Spartan). That was it. In the last two months I have gone down the rabbit hole and doubled my collection. I have lost track of how many Felix Immler vids I have watched recently.
My Collection:
Spartan (with plus scales)
Cadet
Sportsman
Pioneer X (2026 LE)
Trekker/Trailmaster OHO
Companion
I feel I need at least one SAK with red scales. Now that I have the Companion, I might try my hand at modding the Sportsman.
Compared to another MX clip that opens and closes like butter this mc clip feels janky and unfinished.
Haven't tried to oil but is this issue something I should warranty directly with Victorinox?
Instead of sending it back to Amazon?
Probably user error but I find the can opener on the combo tool way easier and quicker to open cans than I do the traditional opening layer.
More recently I was visiting Switzerland for the first time, and while in Zurich I stopped by the Flagship Victorinox store in order to buy myself a souvenir, and I found this! I will admit I knew and still know NOTHING about knives, but I did know that the red knives with the white cross were really well known, for one reason or another. When I walked in, I could not stop looking at this model! I had to have it, and now I carry it with me every day. Very happy with my purchase.
I see some inconsistency with lite models. Some are clear and others are gray.. only seems consistent on the Swiss Champ XXL that there is a clear LED.
Is there something i need to look for to ensure that i get a clear one?
I've had the Rambler for a long time. I modified it a while ago. Everything else happened within a year. I have a feeling it could grow even bigger.
From left to right.
Rambler mod

Want to buy a gift for mostly urban EDC. The card will be in a wallet and the Classic on the keys.
Are the scissors of the Swiss card better?
Hi people, I've had to ask as 'slightly' confused here regarding this Wenger Ranger I have which is an 05, 'correct me if I'm wrong'.
I have tried researching and any confirmation or info would be highly appreciated.
It has a partially serrated main blade and a corkscrew. I just can't seem to find confirmation apart from getting told it's an '06', which I know it's not. It's not a Mountaineer as you can see.
It's pristine, not EVER used, and bought it around 8 years ago.
Is it rare as I do know that towards the end of Wengers production, different tools were put on models that could be classed as one offs. Again, correct me if I'm wrong, any feedback would be highly appreciated. 👍🏻
Swiss Champ SOS kit - looks like it's never been used!
What tools will you propose a new design (ideal) Swiss card to add/remove?
Why haven't they came up with a sort of build your own? Obviously there are some limitations due to layering. Even at a premium inspite of hand assembly I think it would sell quite well. Maybe even better.
I am leaving on a trip to UAE this October, and I have heard the knife laws are really strict. I usually have either a classic sd or a farmer x alox on me (depending on the mood).
Does anyone in UAE daily any of the knives around?
I know some would argue this isn't even a SAK, for lacking a knife, but there it is.
I almost got it a couple of months back when Amazon had it on sale (around CAD51). I held off, then the price went up a couple of bucks so I didn't get it. Then Prime Day came and I got it for under CAD40 (SRP IS CAD62). I'm so glad I waited.
I agree with Accoutrements on YT that this model needs a key ring, like the Cadet (in photos).
The 3rd photo is with the Cadet and Synergy X.
I almost never need a knife, so I'm looking forward to EDC'ing the Companion Slim often (I have a Rambler with Etsy Plus-LED scales on my keychain so that's covered).
Im planning on building my own custom victorinox but im not sure on what toolset i want in it. So im asking you guys what you would put into your ideal victorinox
A friend used my SAK to open a dozen Amazon boxes and the knife now has sticky residue on it. What is the best way to cheap this?
Out of curiosity for those who carry either the Mini Champ or the Rambler, what was your final decision to pick one over the other? I do realize there are probably many people in here who have both. What was your reasoning for picking one over the other or if you have both, which one do you carry more often?
I currently only have the Mini Champ and my decision to purchase that over the Rambler was the pen, which I use on a regular basis, and for some odd reason the little spoon that's on it (many of my friends call the Coke spoon). I use it to open my cans of Zyn and Velo.
My curiosity got the better of me with this one and it proves that sometimes being a big SAK can work in its favour.
Obviously I think this was meant as a showcase tool like the SwissChamp XXL but I can't say it is impractical in use because it actually feels good in the hand (just not in the pocket edc), however, there are a few tools which I will probably never use on this and I could argue that they are just lightweight 'bloat' but that brings me back to the word 'showcase' even though it has two awls as back tools🤷.
So I could put this in my collection box as a curiosity only but like my Wine Master and Cheese Knife that have kitchen drawer designation, the WorkChamp XL is going in my tool tote with the rest of my DIY quick grab cos it brutally deserves it and it was given polyamide scales for a reason😄
BTW the size comparison pic is of the two biggest 91mm SAKs I have, the Cybertool L and the SwissChamp XXL along with the WorkChamp XL. The Cybertool L lives in my pocket everyday.
