SOTB

New addition of the MF-4 as my Adventure Audio Fuzz Peaks is in desperate need of some repairs. Massive low end and an excellent mid frequency control.

Paradriver is good to me

Everytime I see a Sansamp, it's a Bass Driver.

I wanted to buy one. I messed up. I got a Paradriver.

It's good. I can have a very vintage tone, a clanky tone, popping tone. It's also versatile, I can use it with my guitar, or my harmonica mic too (but I usually just leave it on the bass board).

What am I missing from the Bass Driver?

How can I use this bass pedal more effectively?

A Behringer V Tone BDI21.

I’m using it as a DI pedal for a Yamaha Broadbass. I’m seeking information on how I could use it effectively, to get the best sound out of it.

Currently, I’m using this pedal to boost my Bass’ signal before it reaches the Rubix44, which then goes through a compression preamp, before finally reaching Ableton.

However, I am still quite new to producing and creating tones, so I can hardly dial in anything intentionally. Please offer me any advice, I will greatly appreciate it!

Zoom multistomp for special effects

Hello!

I'm beginner (1y) and play alone, but i like to tinker with pedals.

while i already have base setup (comp, od, di) i would like to try fuzz, envelope, octave, chorus etc etc

i'm not sure i will use those all the time, i don't want expensive stuff.

so i thought maybe it's good to get zoom multistomp MS-60B+ to be able to play with those effects?

any downsides? it costs less than all those effects even in budget segment.

Working on bass drum technique.

Not so easy working in double bass pedal when you have relied heavily on a single bass pedal for so long.

Different version of Sansamp V1?

Different XLR (one is blue), and both have different type of capacitor. But both is V1. Would be both be the same or one is superior than the other?

Need an OE Tuner

I’m kidding of course, but honestly I never intended to be a brand fanboy. It all started when I upgraded to the Cali76 a couple of years back. When the Fifteen was released last year I ordered one the same week and it has single handed been the one piece of gear that has changed my playing more than anything else. I’ve tried a few different pedals in between the two and the I liked the way that the Morning Glory Clean gave it just a little boost. But I’ve been wanting something more and the DCX Bass has been calling my name for quite a while.

It sounds fantastic and is one of the easiest to dial in drives that I’ve ever owned. Origin Effects is doing something special and I’m glad to have another super high quality pedal for the board. I’m going to do some rearranging to make room for a 5th pedal here in the next few days, but wanted to at least show off this beautiful combo in the mean time. Also putting together a larger board for when I don’t need to be as portable.

Also, shoutout to pedalplayground (last pic). I love to know exactly what I’m getting into before I start rearranging a board.

- Pedaltrain Nano
- CIOK SOL
- EBS Gold Flat Patch Cables
- Walrus Canvas Tuner
- Origin Effects Cali76 Compressor
- Origin Effects DCX Bass
- Origin Effects BassRig Fifteen

If you're not boosting your TKO 65, you're missing out.

Hands down my favorite little amp. I love the idiosyncratic passive eq with the active presence, the bright and punch voicing filters, and that early 80's Black Widow speaker with the silver dustcap. But when you push it too hard, it gets a case of the toots.

I like practically everything I've plugged into this thing. And have tried quite a few drives on it. But I've never owned a straight up EQ pedal until I snagged an Ibanez BE10 in pristine condition. A halfway decent EQ pedal that operates quietly (if you're so inclined) and used in a specific way, really makes this amp roar. Like in a heraldic way. I want to put this shit on a coat of arms.

This is your PSA to get an EQ and try it with stuff.

Finally completed my pedalboard today!

Hi everyone, I’m an Italian bass player and I finally finished rewiring my board, so I thought I’d share the full setup and ask for opinions, suggestions, and honest ratings.

The bass is a 1989 Warwick Streamer Stage I 4-string with EMG pickups. The head is a 1995 Ampeg SVT-3PRO, going into an Ampeg PF-210HE 8 ohm cab.

The head is mounted in a Gator 3U rack bag together with a dbx 166A. The dbx sits in the SVT effects loop and I use the two channels in series. Channel 1 is set for light general leveling, while Channel 2 works more like a peak catcher and a very gentle safety/gate stage. Stereo link is off. I try to keep it subtle, so I notice the rig getting tighter rather than hearing obvious compression.

The pedalboard is a Palmer Pedalbay 60, powered by a Palmer PWT-12 MK2 mounted underneath. I’m using Ernie Ball Flat Ribbon patch cables.

Current signal chain:

Korg DT-10 tuner

Boss OC-2 Octave

Z.Vex Woolly Mammoth

Fulltone Bass-Drive Mosfet

JAM Pedals Red Muck Bass

MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter

TC Electronic Stereo Chorus+ / SCF

Boss DD-7 Digital Delay

Tech 21 SansAmp VT Bass DI

When I use my own amp, the VT Bass DI is mostly a light EQ and tone-shaping stage. I use it to add a little more edge and presence for slap parts or pick parts, without completely changing the character of the SVT.

When I have to play without my own amp, especially in rehearsal rooms with random backline, the VT Bass becomes much more important. In that case I use it to get as close as possible to my SVT-style sound, with a slightly pushed Ampeg-like character.

The board is meant to cover clean Ampeg tones, octave and synth-like bass sounds, gated fuzz, Muff-style fuzz, envelope filter, chorus/flanger, delay and DI/preamp duties. The Woolly Mammoth is the newest addition and it completely changed the personality of the board.

The cable management underneath is not perfect, but this is the cleanest I could get it for now without proper cable clips or routing accessories. Everything is stable, and the layout finally feels usable.

I’m curious to hear what you think about the layout, the signal chain, the rack compressor in the effects loop, and the overall rig.

Rate or roast my board.

My usual pathing for my bi-amp setup also works really well in a single-amp 4-cable configuration.

My first multi fx

It’s got a lot of useless effects but I’ll experiment with the half dozen I enjoy with the rhythm and looper function.

Love how compact and lightweight it is.

Happy 4th!

My mini board for tomorrow’s gig. AKA-Empress and The Hive

Normally, I use the board in the second picture. But, tomorrow’s 6:30-8:30 gig in the square will have parking hassles so I wanted a smaller version that I could attach to my rolling cabinet.

So, I cannibalized the big one to the 14” board above. Extremely versatile. And a looker, too!

EQD Blumes or Plumes for bass

I’m looking for a bass overdrive. I’ve heard EDQ Plumes does pretty well on bass, but I also know that the Blumes is geared more toward bass. I play guitar more than bass so having a pedal that’s also suited for guitar (Plumes) is appealing. But in this case, I want to get what is best for bass.

Has anyone here tried either or both on bass?

Should I go analog?

I play both bass and guitar and that HX Stomp XL is basically my sound for all occasions. It surely stays in my arsenal because it's simply irreplaceable in terms of versatility and experimenting potential. As I play primarily bass in a metal band, when it comes to building a chain appropriate to the genre, pedals are... just better. Preamps are punchier, distortions are juicier, compressors... I finally feel and hear those. And GAS, of course, shouldn't exclude that.

My home setup is HX Stomp going into an active speaker or headphones, at rehearsals and gigs we use in-ears. So I do not really hear a ✨proper✨ bass sound that often.

Please help me decide between these two or maybe suggest your solution to the problem:

  1. I learn to get a better tone out of the current setup* and maybe buy a cab+power amp/combo to enjoy a trve bass sound.

  2. I build an analog chain for metal sound. Tuner > comp > dist > eq > preamp, something like that.

* - worth mentioning I've already spent countless hours tweaking the knobs and watching Youtube guides.(you can still send some good ones)

** - nvm the grammar, I'm not a native speaker

SOTB and NPD

Got the wah about 6 weeks ago, space echo showed up yesterday. Both are so much fun to experiment with, I now have so many options with this rig. I’ve also switched to a wet/dry setup now and I’m really digging it. Really excited to start recording some BIG sound

What chorus should I get?

Looking to get a chorus for my fretless. I'm shooting for that 80s Pino Pallidino type of tone.

I preferably want a stereo chorus that sounds great in mono.

Right now I'm looking at the TC SCF chorus and the Boss DC-2W but I'm intrested in what other higher end bass optimised options are out there

SotB: we're gonna need a bigger board

I decided to strip my board down to just the basics until I decided what I want to do. Top row is the Dirty channel, bottom row is Clean. Blended together they sound amazing.

Second picture is the rest of the collection so far.

Not pictured is the EQD 4 channel splitter and mixer that live under the board.

Not sure what else out of my collection I want to try and squeeze in there for now. I also have my old Pedaltrain Pro board in the closet, I might grab another power supply and put all the weird stuff on that one and keep this board mostly the way it is now.

Thoughts? Concerns? Questions?

Great preamp/DI

Several years back when I was still working I purchased some bass gear for my golden years. Nothing too extravagant, MIM Fender Mustang (thin RS 77 flats) & Jazz Bass (std RS nickel 66 RW) & originally thought I’d use a pedal preamp/DI into a computer DAW & figured I’d be assembling a pedalboard. Then I came across this gem (head, not the cabinet.) While not exactly pedalboard friendly, this compact little powerhouse features 2 XLR DI’s. The 1st can be switched pre/post is 3-band eq & the 2nd follows the 6V6 class A/B power section/output transformer. Oh, it also has a built-in dummy load so can be used with or without a speaker cabinet (load.) Need more oomph for a gig? Pairs beautifully with any FRFR powered speakers/FoH.

Now this amp by itself yields a creamy, warm tube sound that approaches break-up and has tons of natural compression, the only thing really needed is an Xotic EP Boost (set w/ mid bump) & this thing has a beautiful bloom that’s out of this world. I’ve never really believed in relying heavily on pedals and honestly with this rig little else is needed
