SOTB again. And again….

Hello again, I’m back with more bullshit, and open to opinions on how to improve upon what y’all think is bullshit here. Cheers

Finally locking in on a stable SOTB?!

I didn’t even realize that I went a month without changing a single pedal. That is, unfortunately, likely a record for a gear slut like myself. But it means that I like my tone!
Main bass is a Peavey Foundation (G&L L2k tribute on deck), going into the 800RB preamp first, then FX loop out to the LS2 with that preamp on channel A for the clean, and the bottom row pedals on B.
The Wampler Dracarys is the latest addition, and I’ll be damned if it isn’t underrated. Having it in parallel, along with the resonant filter EQ shaping at the end, it can genuinely sound like most Darkglass distortions, and that wasn’t even what I was going for. It’s very versatile, even with the gain down, and it plays well with the Bat.
I really think this could be my last SOTB post for some time!! (as fucking if..)

Guitar tones through the bass rig

First time playing my guitar in 2026, so rather than getting my guitar board and amp out, I just used my bass pedalboard. I didn’t adjust any settings, and it kiiiiinda rips.. A majority of my pedals on my board are “guitar pedals”, but they’re still very much tailored to my bass rig.

Pedals in use: Boss Power Stack (the most underrated boss distortion pedal) > (heavily modded) Rat > Julia chorus > DiCosimo Audio 800RB bass preamp.
Playing through a custom bass cab w/ 12” Eminence Legend BP122 speaker via Crown power amp.

I never have been nor will be a guitar player (as you can audibly tell), and I definitely never intended to share anything about my guitar playing online, but I was just shocked/pleased how chunky it sounded right away that I enjoyed it enough to share lol.
I encourage you to play your guitar through your bass rig, unadulterated, and maybe you’ll have pleasing results like I did!

New flavor of the week

I should nickname my pedalboard the carousel, because a few kids always refuse to get off when the ride is over (and I let them stay), some get scared and ask to get off once we get going, and others are standing by wondering if they will ever get a chance.

Permanent riders: DiCosimo Audio 800rb preamp, Broughton resonant filter EQ, Bat, and my new Julia.

*Chicken of Bristol: Super Fuzz with some mods: full range, octave toggle switch, and toggle for both fuzz channels to be in parallel. Prior to having an LS2 this year, I just couldn’t keep it on here, but it deserves another shot since I put the time into Frankensteining it, and it actually sounds great. I just don’t use fuzz often, so it’ll likely get kicked off the ride soon lol.

In between projects tone chasing

Been trying new variations with all the pedals I own, and this one has been surprisingly fun. Yes, stacking chorus pedals lol. CE-2 on the vibrato setting, going into the DC-2, and it makes an interesting and thick sound on the clean channel. Fun board, but likely will have to change some things for next project

NPD x3

3 new toys: Source Audio Stingray multi filter. Broughton Audio resonant filter EQ, Earthquaker Zoar.

I have gotten back into work as a roadie again, so I do not have any current projects going, and that has resulted in a whirlwind of tone chasing for fun whenever I’m home. The only things that have stayed consistent are the Beetronics Royal jelly OD/fuzz (cuz it has a very reactive 2-band EQ), CE-2W (or my DC-2W), walrus delay, and the super 800 preamp (which is actually being replaced with a DiCosimo audio 800rb preamp).
So far, I am loving all of the new pedals, especially the resonant filter EQ. Running at a higher voltage, combined with the resonance, it truly is an “effect” pedal in itself the way it reacts. It’s amazing. I haven’t played with the Zoar a ton yet, but so far so good, especially at lower gain settings, and running at 18V. And the Stingray.. it’s wild lol. It sounds awesome, even when I have no clue exactly what the hell it’s doing. It’s definitely a menu diving monster, but the quick presets really are good enough starting points to inspire deeper understanding of the pedal, so it should be a fun journey, though I think it will ultimately end up on my guitar pedalbord.

Chain: tuner > LS2
Loop A: EQ > CE-2W > Stingray
Loop B: Kobe > Zoar
LS2 out > delay > super 800

My first humbucker bass, G&L L2000 Tribute

I have been a jazz bass and peavey foundation player for years, so this is my first bass with humbuckers. Oddly enough, I am a little worried that it will take my ears some getting used to, along with some fine tuning of my rig (I use a lot of pedals). Feels great and looks great though, especially for being only $450. Any tips or suggestions on mods that work well/might be needed for this model are appreciated!

New account, new additions, same tone chasing paralysis

Flow:

Tuner > LS2 > channel A is the Riptide

LS2 channel B > HM-2W > OC-5 > Beetronics royal jelly (OD/fuzz, and a good EQ stage) > DC-2W

LS2 A+B out > TR-2 > walrus audio delay > Digitech Polara reverb > Master Effects Super 800 preamp

Amp situation is experimental right now. Going into a Klark-Teknik LA2A with no reduction, just using for tube gain, into the klark-teknik pultech style EQ, going into a crown power amp. Using my Peavey Foundation bass, but waiting on my G&L L2000 to arrive and use that forever (hopefully). And yeah, this pretty much works as my guitar rig as well, if my guitar is sitting nearby. I just use a different cab, no preamp pedal, and usually swap the HM-2W with a Rat.
