Hello! I'm considering buying a monitor arm for my son that will be coming in as a first-year student. When looking at the desks for first-year housing, it doesn't mention how thick the table top is, nor does it seem like there's a ledge to place a monitor arm. Has anyone had or seen someone using a monitor arm for these desks?

My son will be attending Case next fall with the current intention of pursuing Mechanical Engineering. I would like to enlist your help on recommending your best/favorite suggestions for labtop/s and specs if you had a budget of $3,000, maybe even slightly more, and why? Also, would you recommend buying it through Case or another option?
