CWRU vs GWU

basically, as the title states, I plan on going to medical school and both cost roughly the same. At George Washington, I would be majoring in public health with a minor and philosophy, and at case western, I would be studying nutritional biochemistry with a minor in philosophy (probably starting spring semester). I feel like my major case western is significantly harder. I don’t know what was going through my mind, but I might change it to just regular biochemistry. I don’t know which one would be better. Please let me know if you have any thoughts or comments. My dream is to go to a top 20 medical school specifically, Stanford is my dream. Thank u.

Asynchronous/remote GenEd courses recommendation pre-med approved by CWRU

My daughter has a Spring admission and she is looking at doing a couple of asynchronous/remote/online GenEd courses that will be approved by CWRU during her fall semester. Anyone who has done this, can you recommend from which online college/university did you go to and received credits for it at CWRU.

I am the only one who received this?

Do everyone receive this or it is a good signal?

Has any graduate student taken a 300-level course?

Hey guys, I’m an incoming PhD student in the Biology Department. There are two courses I’m really interested in, but they’re only offered at the 300 level, with no 400-level equivalents.

I was told that SGS has a policy requiring all coursework to be at the 400 level or higher, but I’m wondering if anyone has successfully gotten approval to take a 300-level course.

BU in Fall vs CWRU in Spring for pre-med

My DD got off the waitlist from Boston University for Fall(no merit aid, full tuition ~ 95K cost per year). BU was for first choice school. She is still waitlisted for Fall in CWRU( ~65K cost with merit scholarship) while admitted for Spring, hoping to hear another waitlist this week(on or about May 22). She has committed to CWRU for Spring but there are days where she questions the Spring start, worried about making friends and missed chance of connecting sooner with rest of the class. We have toured both colleges and like them both. Seeking some info on which college is better for pre-med track.

2nd semester grade disaster

Hi, I’m a fall admit to case for the class of 2026. I ED2ed to case and was admitted and received 28k for the scholarship and roughly over 47k for the case grant. I had a couple of Bs sprinkled in during hs, around 4? But I received a C in stats first sem of senior year. I’m getting 3 Cs in anatomy, stats, and psych and a B in lit (DEFINITELY NOT PROUD). I was concerned about how this would affect my acceptance so I emailed case explaining my situation. I had a uti during finals season that was so severe i had to go to the ER. I also started working at a bakery 2nd semester of senior year so I was more burnt out and fell asleep immediately when I went home. Case replied saying “thank you for explaining your circumstances, hope you had a speedy recovery. Make sure to send your 2nd semester transcript over”. Can someone w a similar experience pls tell me what happened to them?

CWRU EMS

How do people join as a first year student? Is it difficult to get in after applying? I'm not sure what the process is/what they look for

Thanks!!

Highschool junior

Considering applying to Case Western and wanted brutally honest opinions on the culture/student vibe. I’m looking for a school with ambitious people, collaborative culture, decent social life, and ideally some startup/entrepreneurial energy.

One thing I’m worried about is whether the environment feels too quiet/socially dead outside academics. Would love honest thoughts from current students.

Mayflies at CWRU?

Hello, I am from out of state and I plan on visiting CWRU sometime in June to check it out, however I know that Cleveland is on Lake Erie and is prone to lots of bugs. I was curious, do you get big swarms of mayflies (or other swarming bugs) at the university/surrounding areas and if so how bad does it get? Hoping I can avoid them just by staying away from the water but I saw a couple photos online of mayfly swarms in the cleveland area that freaked me out but I don't know exactly where the photos were taken, and I want to mentally prepare myself if I need to deal with the bugs haha

PT MBA Online

Hi everyone. I’ve been accepted to the Online MBA program for this Fall. I understand classes are synchronous instead of the asynchronous method that I’m accustomed to.

I wanted to ask how the online classes tend to run. Some particular questions:

  1. Do professors call on/ engage students a lot?

  2. What is the typical graded weight for attendance? Or does it vary widely by professor?

  3. Are there any situations where you’re required to go to campus?

  4. How frequent is group work/ presentations?

  5. Any professors that stand out both positively and negatively?

TIA!

Which is better? Student doesn’t want to move to Cleveland. Can I change his mind?

Safety tips for non students

Hey all! I'm living in Cleveland this Summer, right above University Circle where I hear it's not the greatest place to be. Do you all know of any resources that either CWRU or the local area may have (whether it's apps or such), or any general safety tips? I don't plan on walking a lot, but do have a car that I need for work (and bought an obnoxiously colored steering wheel lock). I come from ATL/Georgia Tech, so I have some general sense of urban safety and awareness.

Thanks!

Anyone here get off the Case Western waitlist while being high-need for financial aid?

it would be about ~$10k/year for me to attend, but I’m still on the waitlist. Just wondering if anyone in a similar situation (needing a lot of aid) actually got in off the waitlist.

Case Western vs Tufts (for premed)

I got 48k merit per year from CWRU but I feel like Tufts has more prestige and more importantly is going to be more grade inflationary than CWRU. (I have to decide by today because I got off the waitlist at Tufts and have until midnight!!) Any advice is appreciated

money isn't a huge issue for me

How's the meals at case?

I'm an incoming student for this fall. I signed up for 17 swipes per week + a total of $350 case cash/semester. Though I'll be eating outside of Bon Appetit, most of the time I'll be having meals at Leutner, or somewhere the dining is. I wonder if the meals are okay bc I've never seen meal photos but for advertisements.
