Qashqai e-Power: Pre- vs. Post-2024 facelift
My wife and I are expecting our first child this December and want to upgrade from our existing car (an old 3 door Vauxhall Corsa). We really like the Qashqai e-power, specifically in the tekna spec (found the other trims a bit underwhelming). For reference, our budget is £21k.
We test drove the Qashqai e-power but it was a 2026 and we would be looking at a 2023. The sales person assured me there is minimal difference, but from my research it looks like there was an upgrade/facelift in 2024 which also materially changed the engine/battery as well. I therefore wanted to ask whether I should expect a big difference in power, general driving feel, fuel efficiency and reliability between a pre-facelift version vs. a post-facelift version?
The reliability issues with the older e-powers (specifically the software issues and MGU failure) are creating a lot of concern. I considered a mild hybrid instead, but the fuel efficiency is not great. My alternative is a Mazda CX-5, which has better reliability and similar fuel efficiency to the Qashqai mild hybrid, but I found the CX-5 a bit sluggish to drive.
