Why would someone living in Canada celebrate the independence of a country they no longer live in, particularly when Canada itself remains a monarchy?

That's a much more philosophical question about immigrant identity and national loyalty.

India became independent from the British Empire in 1947, whereas Canada had already developed substantial self-government and constitutional autonomy before that. Canada later retained the Crown as part of its own constitutional system. Canada's government describes the modern Crown as a uniquely Canadian institution.

Walmart shoppers - any issues with items being charged twice?”

I was charged twice for a dairy item today. Sad.

Has anyone had items scanned twice at checkout? Just trying to figure out if it was a mistake or an organized scam where employees charge the customer twice and remove that item from shelf for themselves later.
