Okay, ignore how wrinkled the jeans are.

Lots of people put their stats. I am 6'1" and 47 years old. Highest weight was 160kg (352 lbs) and I am currently 121kg (266 lbs). I don't really have a goal weight.

I have had no pain or complications. Definitely hitting my fibre goals. Hair loss has started big time, but I will survive. I seem to have more flexibility that I was not expecting in my legs and hips and such.

Certainly recommend having the surgery if you are on the fence.

Road trip food ideas?

My husband and I are planning a week long road trip and I am concerned about food options. I can prep some snacks for a few days, and we can hit some grocery stores along the way to top up. Finding protein on the road is not usually a challenge. But finding fibre as well seems to be difficult.

Does anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

NSV - Zip Line!

This may be a scale victory because I had to lose a BUNCH of weight to be under the max limit for the world's fastest zip line. But it was worth it!

NSV?

I had a pre-assessment appointment yesterday in preparation for having my gallbladder removed. As I am being poked and prodded and measured, I am chatting with the nurse and we got to talking about cycling. I cycle and want to know when I can get back on the bike following the op. She decides I should quit cycling. Not that it is unhealthy or anything about my upcoming surgery. She just reckons it is difficult and stressful. She also asked if I cycle on the motorway.

Is this what you end up talking about with medical professionals when they are not too busy telling you how fat you are?

Anyway, that is a non-scale victory of a sort. And I'm going to celebrate it.

3 month check in

I had my 3 month check in with the baristric dietician yesterday. I mentioned my goal is to become an endurance cyclist, but I need to learn how to fuel on the bike post op. Pre-op I would just eat constantly every 20-30 minutes and keep going, but I didn't have to wait 30 minutes to start drinking again. She is going to refer me to a baristric dietician with a background in sports nutrician. I didn't realise that was a possibility on the NHS.

Feeling good. Progress is slow, my hair is starting to fall out now and my nails are very dry and brittle. And none of my clothes fit right now. But I am so happy I did it.
