Is something up with The Bean?

Sad to see their bigger location close, and today at their Broadway + 9th it looked half shut down: just one employee, empty cases, half the lights off, and they couldn’t toast the bagel I ordered. I hope they’re alright overall.

Anyone have tips on hoarding from Facebook?

I'm working on a project saving stuff about a beloved community bookstore that was around for over two decades until recently. Specifically the "mentions" feed on their Facebook page (which was started in 2011) has so many great photos, videos, and stories, but god is it a fucking hassle to get it to load posts, and there seems to be no way to get them chronological.

I don't mind manually scrolling through, but it won't even load past ~2020.

I don't know what to do except keep trying. Anyone have tips? I'll take anything lol!

Etiquette on telling my boss I’m looking for a new job?

Edited to add: ok this was very clarifying. Thank you all for being so kind!

I just graduated this month with my Masters in library and information science! Yay 😄

Ive been working full time while studying at an academic library for just enough money to live on. It’s the exact type of job that is basically designed for MLIS students, so there‘s no shock that I would likely be looking for a job. In fact, shortly after my degree, my boss scheduled a meeting check in with me about job searching and asked when I’m planning on looking. I said I’m enjoying the stability and flexibility at this job (true) for right now, but will let her know.

There’s also big layoffs happening at our academic institution, all decisions above my boss’s boss’s level. My job was not cut, but two others in our dept were.

I have sort of changed my mind about waiting around, and started looking very casually at job board listings. I’ve applied to two that seemed particularly interesting, and now I want to tell my boss so we’re on the same page. But getting the job I currently have took like four months and I don’t have much money saved. I’m scared to tell her Im looking, and then have that treated as notice of leaving or risk a bad reference if I’m too quick or slow to get a new position.

I plan on giving two week notice if I get a new job at the very least, but yeah I’m not sure how to handle this professionally. Would love advice.

Apologies if this sounds obvious and I’m overreacting. I tend to anxiety. My only other full time job was straight out of undergrad co-owning a bookstore and so I have no practice at working in large institutions with formal and complex structure prior to this job. It was a great experience, but as unstable and stressful as it sounds so my one unionized year here has felt relatively stable (even with layoffs) and I don’t relish the risks around job searching even though it’s the obvious next step.
