🚨🚨 Warning: The Bus Fare Police are at 14th and 1st on Thursday 8/20 9 am 🚨🚨
They are literally here a few times a week. I wonder if they do this on the UWS too 🤔

Where is a good spot in the neighborhood for donating old clothes? Could really use the extra space in my closet...
Hi
I’ve been building a side project called YourScene.
It’s a local discovery app for finding events, watch parties, bars, venues, and things happening nearby.
The problem I’m trying to solve is that local discovery still feels scattered. In places like NYC, Brooklyn, Jersey City, and Denver, people are checking Instagram, Reddit, Eventbrite, venue calendars, Google Maps, group chats, and word of mouth just to figure out what’s happening tonight.
I’m trying to make something that answers:
“What’s actually worth going to near me right now?”
A few things I’m building toward:
smaller local events, not just huge promoted ones
watch parties and fan spots
neighborhood-based discovery
filters for low-key / not touristy / small crowd / 30+ / family-friendly
live local posts through Pulse, so it’s not only scraped listings
better trust signals for venues and events
It’s still early, but I’d love feedback from other builders.
What would you focus on first: better event supply, better maps, stronger filters, community/Pulse, or onboarding?

Appreciate any honest feedback.
Hello,
Does anyone know anyone or is anyone willing to be a cat sitter this Saturday morning and Sunday morning in Stuytown? It is a two-year-old male cat who needs wet food and medication once a day. It should be real easy and less than 30 minutes each time please let me know if you know of anyone or have any recommendations on what I should do. Thanks!
what’s the cheapest spot for a chicken and rice bowl in the neighborhood? I just need protein and carbs for the gym. i have too many roommates/too little time in the day to cook.
I’m tired of going to the Tajeen Halal cart and them trying to charge me $13 cause I dont have cash for a chicken over rice plate that gives me diahreah for 2 days
Looking to take my cat to an affordable veterinarian in the East Village or surrounding area. Any suggestions?

KNOW ABOUT SOMETHING THAT’S MISSING?
Drop it in the comments especially neighborhood events, block parties, recurring meetups, comedy, live music, DJs, nightlife, salsa, bachata, reggaetón, markets, art openings, volunteer opportunities or smaller community gatherings.
We’d especially love to hear about the smaller East Village events that don’t always make it onto the big NYC event calendars.
For transparency: I help build YourScene, a local events app. We make these weekly lists because finding everything happening locally usually means checking dozens of separate calendars.
YourScene is about making it easier to see what’s actually happening around you — from major shows and nightlife to smaller neighborhood events, community gatherings and things that are usually much harder to find.

Someone I know, who knows her and her family, told me that her family convinced her to enter treatment
I recall someone posting that they had wondered where she went and were worried. So good news at least for now
Hi Neighbors!
Our shelters are overwhelmed with cats, and they need fosters! Fostering is so crucial because it frees space in shelters and socializes animals to help adopt them out faster.
I personally love to foster because I travel a decent amount, and I can do it on my schedule. It’s also so fun to meet so many cats and see all their different personalities!
You can find more information about the ACC’s foster program HERE.
Sharing the Meow Parlor as well HERE.
im talking no phone-based trivia (one where you write it on a piece of paper) , accommodates large groups, good range of questions, etc
any good cafe recs to do work and lounge around leaning more towards a cozy vibe
Just letting folks know from the neighborhood that our documentary about the 80s East Village art scene is playing one LAST time in NYC this summer. A unique documentation of East Village history with never-before-published archival video and the participation of 150+ artists from the era.
Venue: Museum of Arts and Design - 2 Columbus Circle
Date: Saturday August 15th 1:45pm
In conjunction with New Plaza Cinema, we play at the MAD Museum with easy travel access to the East Village! The venue only allows Advance Ticket sales, so keep in mind no on-site ticket sales. Prices are $15 for General Admission but $14 for Students and Seniors.
Synopsis: Make Me Famous captures NYC’s explosive 1980s Downtown art scene where punk, paint, music, and nightlife collided. At its edge stood painter Edward Brezinski, whose story reveals the era’s DIY grit, ambition and where the dream of making it felt just within reach and heartbreakingly out of grasp.
Happy to answer any questions about the film and the many EV artists that are involved!
