To the incomers who may be nervous about housing
Now, I have spent all four years I've been at UTSA so far in Alvarez Hall, so I can only really tell you specifically about Alvarez, but I'm sure others who have lived in the other dorms can add what info they have in the comments. What I'm going to tell you is that if you are going to be staying in Alvarez, I honestly think you'll have a pretty decent time. Of course this is assuming your RA and fellow residents are nice and all that, but personally I think Alvarez is a pretty good set up. If you want to be that social person who's always meeting up with people and making friends, the floor common spaces and lobby are spaces you can gather. If you want to be less social and maybe just mostly spend time with yourself, you have your own room to yourself where you can hide out. If you don't want to interact with your suitemate (the person you share a bathroom with), you don't necessarily Have to (other than maybe to make sure each other are doing your part of cleaning the bathroom and keeping the thermostat at a temp you both are fine with). Haven't quite gotten the best grasp of time and afraid of being late? Alvarez may be the closest building in the housing area to the main part of campus. Again, I've only ever lived in Alvarez, but I bet those who have lived in the other dorms can probably try to give experience in the comments.
