Quotemehappy Connect cancelling my insurance while I'm abroad – advice urgently needed
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for advice from anyone who has dealt with Quotemehappy Connect/Aviva or a similar telematics policy.
I’m a newish driver with a Connect policy and am currently on a European road trip with my girlfriend, who is a named driver on my policy. We have been sharing the driving.
I received a Red (bad) driver rating, followed by another Red rating, and have now been told my insurance will be cancelled (currently active, but received a text and email saying they will be with more information to come)
The important point is that, looking at my Connect scores, the only category showing Red is "Usage". My other driving scores are very good, with several at 100.
I contacted Quotemehappy because I suspected my girlfriend's driving was being recorded against me. They confirmed in writing that when another driver is driving, their journey is still recorded against my rating if my phone is in the vehicle.
This is exactly what has been happening – my phone is normally in the car and connected for Bluetooth/Google Maps while my girlfriend drives.
I've repeatedly contacted them asking how this should be handled, whether her journeys can be identified/reviewed and whether my rating can be reconsidered. Unfortunately, I've received slow/partial responses and haven't had these questions properly answered. They say they respond with In 24 hours but never have.
I'm now in Slovenia, still on the road trip, and have been told my insurance will be cancelled. I also informed them about the European trip before purchasing their European Breakdown Cover specifically through them as well.
I've tried email, their online system and telephone, but I'm repeatedly being directed back to the online service.
Does anyone know:
-A number/department where I can actually speak to someone about a cancellation?
- How I can formally escalate this?
- Whether anyone has successfully had a Quotemehappy Connect cancellation reviewed?
- Whether there is anything else I should be doing while I'm abroad?
I’m particularly worried about being left abroad without valid insurance when I've been actively trying to resolve this with them.
Any advice would be massively appreciated.
Ps yes I used chatgbt to help we write this, but it's a bit of a stressful situation so wanted to get it all together.
Thanks in advance for any help.
