Why didn't Ricciardo dominate in most of his wins?
At least 6 of his wins are arguably inherited. He never won a race by more than 10 seconds.
- Canada 2014 - Rosberg had brake issues
- Hungary 2014 - Got an optimal safety car which screwed over most of the other contenders
- Belgium 2014 - Mercedes collided early in the race
- Malaysia 2016 - Hamilton had an engine failure
- Azerbaijan 2017 - Hamilton had a headrest failure. Also a meme race in general
- China 2018 - Another optimal safety car
His only lights to flag wins were Monaco 2018 and Monza 2021. The easy rebuttal is that he didn't have the car to win on pace but Max won by more than 10 seconds in Malaysia 2017, Mexico 2017 and Mexico 2018. And a lot of his wins don't look that impressive anyway. Perez was ahead of him with a few laps to go in Canada, Alonso was ahead of him with a few laps to go in Hungary, the only driver he had to outpace at Baku was Stroll.
