Why is everyone so scared of Jrue and Scoot at the 2?

The only thing I’m skeptical about are Dame + Ja minutes

Jrue is getting old and will not have the speed to guard 1s and he’s always been great as a 2nd ball handler, not the primary. He was getting DPOY votes and All defensive teams as a 2 guard. He’s 6’4 and strong. He can absolutely guard most 2s in the league. He’s got the IQ and lack of ego to play off the ball, especially now that he’s getting older.

Scoot on the other hand. He has been inconsistent as the primary ball handler, meanwhile towards the end of the season he was absolutely lighting it up being an off the ball shooter. Had many games where he just banged down 3s back to back.

In terms of size, does no one remember avery bradley? Scoot is the same height as avery bradley, has a longer wingspan, and is strong and athletic. He can absolutely body up with most 2s in the league. He’s had flashes as a good defender and I think he will flourish as a combo guard. He’s shown he can absolutely tip the pace over with his strong-headed drives. I think being surrounded by level-headed veterans who can handle the ball like Dame, Jrue, Ja, Deni will give Scoot the space he needs to really unlock consistency.

This of course brings up the question about Sharpe SF minutes. Sharpe has the height and length at 6’5 with a 6’11 wingspan. He’s athletic so he can def jump and get good contests. Only problem is that he is a bit on the SG side of strength and could probably get bullied by the strongest 3s like OG

Anyone ever tried making a post up guard?

Been thinking of trying a post up guard build. Lotsa people already don’t focus on defense much less interior D and strength on a guard.

I’ve made elgin baylor type builds in mynba and it always becomes OP because I can just back down most SGs in the league with ease

Laundry list that needs to worked on this off-season

1: The offense: we had absolutely 0 offensive system. It was glaringly bad in the playoffs. 80% of it was ISO ball. When it was wesley, cissoko, hansen garbage time, they ran a play with constant swings of the rock that was absolutely spectacular. Our garbage team should not be playing smoother offense than our main lineup.

2: Deni’s hero mode: there were some times in the playoffs where Deni was not passing the ball and throwing up some bullshit off a long ISO while Scoot was still hot. This is part of what lead to Scoot picking up that tech on Harper. I could see him getting progressively more frustrated.

3: Scoot’s turnovers and decision-making: Scoot caught fire a few teams in the playoffs and other times iced tf out (1 of them I blame on Splitter and Deni). If Scoot can be a more consistent 20-30 ppg, 6 apg player, he will propel our team so much father. His 3 ball looked amazing and whenever he was on the court and not throwing up some bullshit, his speed tipped the game over to a massive degree

4: Clingan’s footwork and playoff physicality: on the defensive end, Clingan is just too damn slow when one of our main obstacles is going to be Wembanyama. And then on the offensive end, he played like he was 6’3 in the playoffs. He needs to learn how to body up in the paint and fight for that rebound when it matters instead of just in the regular season

5: Camara’s playoff offense: Maybe it was just jitters but Camara was ice cold in the playoffs. If Camara was even half of the shooter in the playoffs as he was towards the end of the season the games would have been way more tight.

Honestly, we’re on such a thin cusp to becoming a top tier team in the league. If all of these players just halfway tightened up these 1-2 weaknesses it would produce exponential gains. Some of these can be attributed to the offensive system being straight doodoo. I did leave Sharpe out because I think it’s likely he gets traded. I love Sharpe he is my favorite archetype of player but he does not seem to be putting it together like we need him to. But maybe it’s just the offensive system and with a real coach he’ll explode next season and I’ll be eating my shoes.
