About to test first 3 Reolink cams | coming in from Ring

I use 13 Ring cams and their security system to monitor our home and all ground level doors and windows and garage entry points. For the most part it's good enough. But, there are issues w/ missed motion captures, grainy quality, and loss of service in colder Winter months for outside cams. I still find much of the system useful so I'm not Ring bashing, plus, it has the wife seal of approval for the app's ease of use and she looks at a lot of video.

I'm going to start w/ 2 x RLC-811A PoE bullet cams and 1 x Atlas wifi / solar cam w/ the 20000 battery. I was looking at the Argus 4 but it has no IR lighting and I want stealth in some areas.

Curious to learn how others who came in from Ring have found the Reolink experience. Bonus points for adding wife factor. No NVR to start w/ and when I do, I may try using Homeassistant and Frigate. We have tons of integrated gizmos already.

Thanks.

New to Reolink - can I mount a RLC-811A to Vinyl siding without screws using a non screw plate?

Greetings:
I'll be ordering several RLC-811A PoE bullet cams and one needs to go on vinyl siding. I do not want to drill holes. I found several Vinyl mounting plates such as the one below. But, I'm worried that the RLC-811A cam will be lean too far forward w/ weight for the bracket.

So, I'm checking in to see what others may have dome to mount RLC-811A bullet cams on Vinyl siding without damaging the siding.

Dedicated HA device options - what are folks using? | HA yellow discontinued

Greetings:

My aging server running ESXi and my HA VM is great but the server is starting to need a semi-monthly reboot. I'm looking into inexpensive options for a dedicated type HA system that mounts on my Internet gizmos pegboard.

An Intel NUC is too expensive, and I see that HA Yellow is being discontinued. HA green is an option but I don't hear much about it. Plus, HA Green is $300 CDN ($219USD), and I can only use it for HA. For another $100CDN ($75USD), I can get a mini PC and use Proxmox and run multiple VMs.
https://www.home-assistant.io/blog/2025/10/15/yellow-end-of-life/

I'm seeing something called "Mini-PCs" that apparently run HA. Curious as to what folks are running their HA's on these days. I used to use an R-pie but it kept eating SD cards so I don't want to go back that route.

*** Mini PC options:
They are all between $350-$500 CDN ($255-$350USD).

Do I really need a torque wrench? Seeing a lot of mention but thinking its a trend more than a need

I've been fixing things my whole life and never used a torque wrench. But, as I watch videos for various tractor maintenance procedures I'm seeing torque wrenches all over the place. I saw what I think was something similar a few years back when I was looking at filling a few gaps in my tool set. There seemed to be trends on youtube almost like fashion styles where folks were arguing over using Knippex pliers or Wera sockets or Millwaukee vs. Ryoby quality discussions. I get the impression this is what I'm seeing. I don't need a torque wrench to tighten a tire lugnut.

I could be wrong. Curious as to how many people are really using them on their Kubotas for just general upkeep.

Thanks.

Back after a year away | MFA killed my sync | No credit cards in YNAB this time

Long-time YNAB user here. A few years back, my bank and CC companies rolled out MFA and sync never fully recovered. Repeated resets, backend switches, nothing stuck. After a year (or two) of wrestling with manual downloads, I finally rage-quit.

Coming back with a cleaner setup: no credit cards in YNAB. I'll budget a dedicated bucket for each card and pay them off monthly. If I need transaction details, every card has an app for that.

Based in Canada, so fingers crossed sync has improved. I can handle downloading my bank statement occasionally — it was juggling several that broke me.

Good to see some familiar faces (and troublemakers) still around. Glad to be back!

Looking for a Mod to move a BX23S from the Backhoe Seat - without using the bucket for mechanical push/pull

I’ve seen videos of tractors being moved from the backhoe seat without using the bucket to push or drag them, but my BX23S doesn’t seem to have that capability.

I looked into rear hydraulic kits, but they don’t appear to offer this option. Research suggests looking for terms including: “inching” and “HST remote control”, but I haven’t been able to find a clear video or example of the actual mod. I’ve also seen some custom long-handle setups for people who need easier control while in the forward seat, plus mention of an old kit from Paul in Newfoundland that was reportedly pulled for safety reasons. There are supposedly hacks for this over at orangetractor.com and tractorbynet.com but I cannot find them.

The only example I’ve saved and can find now is in this video at 5:20:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klnseMZTgEM&t=329s

How is this capability added on a BX23S?

Thanks.

Admittedly new to the BX23S and tractors, let me know if this is a crazy/dangerous idea.

*** Update:
Cannot add more pics to original post but found something online (Facebook) that uses a board as a temporary rear backhoe seat. See link below. Looks useful to avoid having to rotate the seat in a pinch. Also, the best take away for me from this thread was to use a long pole hooked to the fwd/rev pedal and push/pull as needed. Easy and no welding or addons needed. And the tip to use a board to push against in mud.

Anyone else using Ikea's Symfonisk speakers w/ HA as speakers and recently seeing their Ikea gen 1 hubs go offline?

The late April update for the Gen 1 Tradfri Gateway causes the hub to crash/go offline if Symfonisk speakers are paired to it. This killed all my IKEA automations using devices in HA.

The Fix (for me): Simply remove the speakers from the IKEA app. The speakers will continue to work in Home Assistant via the Sonos integration. You don't need them linked to the IKEA hub.

Running a BX23S with the BX2448 bucket and SSQA quick release. The top ridge is only 1.25" wide so the bolt-on hook sets that fit are specialized and pricey (~$200). Not a welder either, so I'm looking for workarounds in the meantime.

Options I've considered: hooking behind the top rim (worried about bending thin metal on a sub-compact vs. the L-series I've seen do it), wrapping chains/straps around the bucket, or looping chains around the loader arms/crossmembers instead.

What are folks doing for occasional lifts without bucket hooks on a BX23S?

Thanks

Greetings:

Note: AI images for discussion purposes - not real.

I'm seeing safety cages for pallet forks but have concerns about hydraulic failure and also the fact that we only have a small Bx23S. Checking in to see if others in the BX23S class are using theirs for things like: gutter cleaning, tree trimming, window washing, Xmas lights, etc.

The cages are only $200 CDN/ $147USD. I get it that the system isn't designed to be used commercially for hours every day, but it sure looks easier that the ladder process I'm using now.

Ideally I would have my wife at the controls, but, in the last pic, you can see how I could use a ladder.

Thoughts, crazy ideas and real world horror stories welcomed.

Tractor's lift height max is 70", Jeep's height is 71". Without buying ramps, or building something permanent that needs to be stored, how can I extend the tractor's lift?

I have an idea here that isn't really to scale, but it shows a basic ramp from paver blocks with 2 x 8 boards. The idea is to drive up and park the tractor. Then, back in the Jeep and lift top off. Pallet forks get extended using 2x4's and top lifts using ratchet straps. Then when done, the ramps goes away till next Winter when used to put the top back on.

I'm new to this Tractoring stuff. How can this be done more better and gooder than my redneck method is doing?

Thanks.

Anyone try side mounting an umbrella to the ROPS that bends at the top? The pic isn't really to scale but it shows the general idea.

I get it that it may not work when windy but it can be closed up or easily removed. The little bracket has to mount on the narrow side of the ROPS bar so umbrella would come up the rear - but so what. I need to break the ROPS nightly for garage entry so any type of canopy could be tricky. Plus, this costs under $100CDN. Real canopies are more expensive.

Thanks - looking for options - crazy ideas welcome.
