Kubota B5200 question.

Good Afternoon. Have an opportunity to buy 91 kubota B5200 4wd with 1K hours for $6K It's clean garage kept and I know the owner. It has front and rear hydraulics installed. My guess front hydraulics are an add on kit. Comes with bunch of attachments except the one I need, a front loader bucket. So questions are:

  1. Obvious one is it even possible to find OEM or aftermarket front bucket for it?
  2. Is 13 HP good enough for 2.5 acres of tilling mowing front bucket loading mulch stone etc.
  3. Do those front hydro retrofit kits have a tilt function for bucket or is going to be an even further retrofit to get a bucket on it.
  4. What is the ballpark cost for bucket and fitting if fitting is required.
  5. Are there backhoe attachments that can be fitted to it and how hard are those to find?
  6. How painful is mowing and general usage with a gear shift?

Thanks a lot for your help. Not well versed in tractors and not at all on older ones. All I know that 1K hours on an engine is nothing and that peaks my interest for the price.

Fork Lift Cage

Anyone try a fork lift safety cage on their BX23S? I know I’d need the backhoe or some other sort of rear ballast.

Garage Door Height Differential?

So I am looking at putting a secondary garage door in the back of my garage but am wondering about the height of the garage door. I have a crazy great price for a 7’ or 84” tall, but my LX2610 with a cab is 82” tall. I am thinking 2” is just not a big enough space for the door to be comfortable going in and out from it?

Anyone with more experience want to chime in?

Thanks!

Where to start?

Hey all,

We own 15 acres, and we are starting a small homestead.

Trying to decide which route to go for a tractor for our property. Primarily would be used for moving dirt, tilling for food plots, and snow removal.

Eventually would be installing some fence lines also.

Thanks for sharing your expertise.

How many hours a year are you guys putting on your tractors?

Not necessarily full time farmers(although I am curious to see those numbers too), but hobby farmers or other small time people. Personally, I have a l3560 that I’ve had for about 5 years and just hit 500hrs and that’s what got me curious.

So what are you guys putting on yearly?

Round bale moving L039

Looking for advice from people experienced with round bale handling and unloading setups.

I’m a caretaker on a ranch and we’re working with an existing setup. Previous caretakers have handled hay in a similar way, trying to figure the most practical method .

We’re currently unloading and moving 4x5 round bales (approx. 1,000 lbs) using:

* Kubota L3901 with pallet forks (no bale spear)
* No loaded rear tires
* No dedicated ballast (only rear implement when attached)
* TB230 mini excavator also available

Hay is picked up by me on a hay wagon with 6 bales total, stacked two high (3 rows).

My question is specifically about unloading the wagon safely and efficiently with this kind of setup. I’m trying to understand how people realistically:

* Reach or remove top bales safely
* Work from the front rows of the wagon
* Do this with a compact tractor + pallet forks without excessive instability

just trying to understand the actual technique or whether there’s something I’m missing about how this is typically done.

With this equipment, what would your process be:

* Tractor with pallet forks?
* Excavator?
* Or is a bale spear / ballast essentially required in practice for this size bale?

Since September we’ve basically been using the excavator to unload and feed because it feels more stable and controlled on our terrain. It works, but it is definitely slower, so I’m trying to figure out if that’s just a workaround or if there’s a more standard way people handle this setup.

The guy we pick hay up from also said it’s kind of crazy doing it without a grapple and that our current tractor setup might be undersized for this kind of bale handling, especially compared to proper bale equipment.

My new mx4800

Just got a nice new MX 4800 and I absolutely love it a little bit big for my 20 acre property but a lot of the work I have to do requires a little bit of extra power. My only little problem with it is a complete lack of storage.(which I’m not surprised because it’s a tractor not a car.) lot of the things I do around the property requires me to bring tools around with me like chainsaw, shovels rakes, sometimes an impact wrench, some sockets hammers, etc.. if you look closely in the pictures as you can see, I’ve already modified it a little bit by putting two HF armor cans behind me and since I don’t have a cab, I strapped my Milwaukee M 18 fan to the top as it was very hot the days I was using it The only reason I didn’t get the cab version is because I have a lot of low hanging trees and I didn’t wanna busted window but anyways I was wondering if anyone had any smart storage solutions for these things that are also relatively well priced for what they are

Lane Shark + Grapple for land management?

This is more of a land/forest management question but not sure where else to go.

I've got a little over a mile of forest line that's slowly creeping in, as it does.

If I had a spare 100k I'd get a Skidsteer and a forestry mulcher, but I don't.

I've got a L2502 - Is a laneshark, a grapple, and a chainsaw to deal with bigger stuff the right answer? Any other attachments out there I should be looking at?

Front Tire BX23

Why is it so hard (and expensive) to get a front tire for a BX23? Dealer says it's cheaper to buy a tire and rim than get it fixed...okay, $180 WTF? Amazon doesn't have much and the prices are very high. Can anyone steer me in the right direction here? Thanks!

Cheap BX sunshade

Pretty happy with my cheap sunshade. If I actually bought everything probably would be $20.

Welded a couple chunks of 1" angle together, had some cutoff 1.25"x1" 6' cedar bits and an old white tarp.

Should help me stay a lot cooler while I send the neighbors bamboo a message.

What should I fix on this BX1830D?

TLDR: Bought this BX1830D w/ an LA211 front loader for about $1500 as part of our first home purchase. Mechanically great, cosmetically terrible. 740 hours. What repairs/refurbishments would you prioritize?

New Kubota owner here! We paid $1500 for this bx1830d with an LA211 front loader as part of a home purchase. It was purchased new in 2005 from a local Kubota shop and spent the last 20 years parked outside/uncovered. I've called the shop for service history and it seems everything was done DIY by the previous owner.

So far we've done the following to it:

  • Repacked leaking tilt cylinder
  • Topped off hydraulic fluid
  • Replaced both in line fuel filters
  • Inflated tires to proper pressure

Next month I'm planning to do a full service including:

  • Engine oil change + Engine oil filter replacement
  • Engine air filter replacement
  • Transmission/Hydraulic Fluid change + Transmission/Hydraulic filter replacement
  • Top off engine coolant

Outstanding Cosmetic/Mechanical issues:

  • Entire bottom/side engine bonnet missing - does this affect performance at all?
  • Transmission lever sometimes gets stuck and needs a lot of encouragement to engage
  • Rusted out hole in the loader bucket
  • The seat...
  • The dashboard... (lights work, but icons completely disintegrated)
  • No headlights
  • Haven't messed with the 3 point hitch drive shaft

Mechanically am I missing anything obvious that should be checked? I'm thinking about just replacing all of the hydraulic lines preemptively as they appear to be rotting (no current leaks that I've found after we fixed the leaking lift cylinder).

Cosmetically - Is there anything worth replacing?

Looking forward to advice :D

What to look for on a l3800?

There is a used one with a front loader for sale in my area at a decent price.

It would be used for random work around my hilly property, with soft but compacted soil.

I've never used a tractor before and do not come from a tractor background and have no close contacts that own tractors or really know about them.

I would like to go check it in person next weekend and don't want to look like an absolute noob, so i would like some pointers on what to look for, what should i be wary of and such.

It does look good in the photos and have around 1.400 hours of use.

Looking at WoodMaxx FM-62H for my LX-2610

As the title says I am looking for a flail mower and have an LX-2610. I would like hydraulic side shift, and the smaller flail mowers don't have it. The Woodmaxx FM-62H gets great reviews, but specs are 20-40HP and the LX2610 is 19HP on the PTO. I have seen a couple of reviews where people have run this setup and seem very happy. I also have a wood chipper rated 20-40HP and it runs fine. I have a brush hog for the heave stuff - this would be to mow trails and a field on a regular basis - so not a lot of heavy grass. Any thoughts/experience on this configuration?

One other question - I do run into occasional rocks and heavier sticks but am still thinking I would go with the Y blades since 99% of the time I will be mowing grass. Does this make sense or should I be looking at the hammer blades?

Wild cap blew off, what could cause this?

*OIL cap blew off lmao

1998 Kubota L2900 with a front loader. Had a service by a pro mechanic in December and maybe 20 hours of use since then, mostly mowing but a few hours each of snow plowing and dirt moving.

Oil pressure light came on after overheating and found the oil cap off, the oil basically at the bottom of the dipstick, and the coolant down to about 60% (reservoir empty and rad maybe 2/3 full)

I'm going to chalk the coolant loss up to massive overheating from the oil loss, but I've got no leads on the oil loss or what blew the cap off. Blowback test was negative so I'm hoping I can rule out head gasket issues

Third Quarter Finance Deals

I currently have a new tractor on order. Salesman called me to sign the contract to lock in before the end of June to lock in the $3k for 84 months (would pay off early). Does anyone have a clue what the third quarter deals would be? Should I wait and see?

Not a huge fan of signing without having the machine. Looking for advice.

First tractor purchase: 2021 Kubota BX1880 (240 hrs) for $12k—worth it?

Hi everyone,
I recently bought a 5-acre property in Colorado and I’m looking for my first tractor. My main uses will be mowing, snow removal, moving mulch/gravel, maintaining a small backyard garden, and general property maintenance. I don’t plan on doing any commercial work or heavy farming.
I found a 2021 Kubota BX1880 with 240 hours for $12,000. It comes with:
LA344 front loader
60” mid-mount mower
Grass catcher
Mulching kit
Front snow plow
Assuming it’s in good mechanical condition, does this seem like a good deal? Is the BX1880 enough tractor for a 5-acre property in Colorado?
I’d appreciate any advice, especially from anyone who owns a BX1880 or maintains a similar-sized property.
Thanks!

Kubota 1305 problems

I have a Kubota 1305 engine that runs my refrigeration on my fishing boat. Today the engine died while running through trouble shooting changing filters and diagnosing I’ve come to the conclusion the fuel shut off solenoid is the issue. To start the engine there’s a switch with the positions “off, run, glow, start” there’s also a button that says “push and hold to start” when I push and hold it fires right up can move the switch back to the run position and it runs fine. The second you let go of the button it dies. I’m wondering if anyone has encountered this. I belive it’s the fuel solenoid I was wondering if there’s a problem with just gutting the solenoid and putting it back on to act as a cap and then turn the engine off manually with the lever? For the time being I think I’m going to tape down the “push and hold to start button” as it Dosent activate the started just the solenoid I believe. Any help is appreciated. Thank you
