2022 Tiguan dangerous acceleration delay from stop — anyone else?
I’m posting here to see if other Tiguan owners have experienced this and whether anyone found a real fix.
I have a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan SEL R-Line 4Motion with the 2.0T. The issue is an intermittent but severe acceleration delay from a stop, and it seems much worse in hot weather when the A/C is running continuously.
In the worst recent incident, the car was in Drive, I pressed the accelerator, and the vehicle failed to respond normally for more than 10 seconds. It stayed around 2 mph or less and I had to pull over. I recorded it on video.
This is not just annoying — it is a safety issue. It has happened in situations where I needed the vehicle to respond immediately, like pulling into traffic, U-turns, and intersections. I also drive daily with my young child in the car.
I’ve brought the vehicle to VW multiple times for this concern.
The issue has never been resolved. I also had an independent mechanic look at it, and he confirmed there is definitely an issue, but said it likely needs VW-specific diagnosis/software/adaptation.
I already filed a NHTSA complaint and BBB AUTO LINE claim because VW denied my buyback request and offered absolutely no settlement. Additionally, I'll meet with an attorney next week.
Has anyone else with a 2022 Tiguan experienced this kind of acceleration delay, especially in summer heat or with the A/C on? If so, what was the actual fix?
