Global Redmi Note 17 Series Launch Confirmed

Xiaomi has confirmed the Redmi Note 17 series will launch globally on August 27^(th). The flagship model being a Redmi Note 17 Pro Max with a 10,000mAh battery. Xiaomi Global Website.

Note 17 Pro Max: Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, up to 12GB/512GB, 6.83” 120Hz OLED, 10,000mAh, 100W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, 32MP selfie, eSIM. GSM Arena Article.

With no antenna lines on Xiaomi’s ad video, it’s likely a plastic frame phone.

At least two other models are expected. Spec below is from GSM Arena website, and so is TBC

Note 17 Pro 5G: Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, up to 12GB/512GB, 6.83” 120Hz OLED, 8340mAh, 67W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, 16MP selfie, eSIM.

Note 17 5G: Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, up to 8GB/256GB, 7.0” 120Hz OLED, 7700mAh, 45W, 22.5W reverse wired, 50MP, 16MP selfie, microSDXC support.

Pricing isn’t yet known, but are all expected to be more expensive than their Note 15 predecessors. The Note 17 Pro Max, which appears to be Note 15 Pro+ replacement, has a rumored retail of € 600. Any early bird launch discounts are not included in that rumored price.

The 17 Pro Max, also receives several after care, warranty benefits - One free screen replacement in the first 24 months, one free battery replacement inside the first 36 months. Exact T&C TBC.

The Note 17 Series is more than ever a cost saving exercise, and sadly I think their retail prices, will reflect higher component costs, even with some of the specification cuts. If 17 Pro Max pricing is accurate, it could look very costly next to Xiaomi's own Poco X8 Pro Max.

Poco F9 Pro F9 Ultra Image & Spec Leak

GSM Arena has reported spec, and images of the forthcoming F9 Pro and F9 Ultra have leaked.

F9 Pro - 8 Elite Gen 5 (cheaper Gen 5 V ?), 6.59" 185Hz OLED, 6330mAh, 100W, 200MP, 50MP 2.5 tele, 8MP ultra-wide, 32MP selfie, 12GB/16GB, 256GB/512GB, Bose 2.1 speakers, metal frame.

F9 Ultra - 8 Elite Gen 5, D2 display chip, 6.9" 185Hz OLED, 8050mAh, 100W, 200MP, 50MP 5 x periscope telephoto, 50MP ultra-wide, 32MP selfie, Bose 2.1 speakers, metal frame.

The F9 Pro chipset is a bit confusing as the K100 Pro, the F9 Pro is based on, uses a cheaper 8 Elite Gen 5 V, and so I'd expect the F9 Pro to do the same.

F9 Ultra chipset is the same as in F8 Ultra, F9 Pro, an upgrade. Even assuming 8 Elite Gen 5 V for F9 Pro, it should still be an upgrade, over the 8 Elite of F8 Pro.

The main camera sees a big change, but the 200MP sensor is only 0.5µm, against 1.0µm of the 50MP (F8 Pro), and 1.2µm of the 50MP (F8 Ultra). It's even below the 200MP sensor of the Note 15 Pro+ (0.56µm). 0.5µm refers to sensor size, the larger the sensor, the more light it can capture, reducing grain, and improving detail retention etc. With more sensor pixels, they can be combined (binning) to create a larger usable sensor area, but whether its results will better the 50MP main cameras of F8, is the unknown at the moment.

Battery sizes, are likely to prove contentious, as the F9 Pro 6330mAh is a huge cut from the 8580mAh of the K100 Pro. The F9 Ultra 8050mAh is a lower cut, from the 9070mAh of the K100 Pro Max. Essentially they're now charging a premium for the battery.

I'll use GSM Arena's exact text on F9 pricing - The Poco F9 Pro will allegedly cost "at least" €799, while the Poco F9 Ultra will apparently go for "at least" €999. We've put "at least" in quotes because this is how the source phrased the pricing information, which makes us think it's more of an educated guess than an actual leak.

So with their fairly similar F8 design, and main changes in display, main camera and battery, these appear to be as much a cost exercise as they are new models.

While not listed, I would also expect both to include eSIM support as F8 models.

Redmi K100 Pro (F9 Pro?) Specs Revealed

Xiaomi has partially revealed spec on the Redmi K100 Pro, and here, launching in China August 11th, together with the K100 Pro Max.

K100 Pro, is likely the base for the Poco F9 Pro, the K100 Pro Max, for the F9 Ultra, and should launch later this year. F8 Pro/Ultra launched November 2025.

K100 Pro – Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V, 6.59” 185Hz OLED, 8,580mAh, 100W/50W/27W/22.5W (wired/wireless/reverse wired/wireless), 200MP main, an Ultra-wide, Telephoto, RAM/Storage TBC.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V chipset is new, more info here. Essentially its an 8 Elite Gen 5, but with a cut down GPU. In performance it’s expected to sit between 8 Elite (as in F8 Pro), and 8 Elite Gen 5 (as in F8 Ultra and likely F9 Ultra).

K100 Pro Max - Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, D2 Display Chip, 6.9” 185Hz OLED, 8,560mAh, 100W/50W/27W/22.5W (wired/wireless/reverse wired/wireless), 200MP Main, an Ultra-wide, Telephoto, Bose 2.1 speaker system. RAM/Storage TBC.

If F9 are Pro, and Pro Max variants, F9 Pro would be see a chipset upgrade, while F9 Ultra remain the same. Both also seeing battery, display, and camera updates over F8. Exact F9 spec, particularly battery size, is unclear at this stage.

If nothing else, they do look very similar in design to the F8 models. Prices are though expected to increase on last year.

Global Note 17 Series Spec & Images Leak

GSM Arena has reported, specs and images of the forthcoming Global Redmi Note 17 Series have leaked.

Note 17 4G – 6.99” 120Hz FHD+ OLED, Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen 2, [4/6/8GB RAM], 128/256GB, 50MP main, 16MP selfie, 7700mAh, 45W, 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.45mm, 224g, Android 16

Note 17 5G – 6.99” 120Hz FHD+ OLED, Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, [6/8GB RAM], 128/256/512GB, 50MP main, 16MP selfie, 7700mAh, 45W, 169.7 x 79.14 x 8.45mm, 224g, Android 16

Note 17 Pro 5G – 6.83” 120Hz 1280p OLED, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, [6/8/12GB RAM], 128/256/512GB, 50MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 16MP selfie, 8340mAh, 67W, 163.45 x 78.27 x 8.46mm, 222g, Android 16, UFS2.2 (128), UFS3.1 (256/512)

Note 17 Pro Max 5G – 6.83” 120Hz 1280p OLED, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, [8/12GB RAM], 128/256/512GB, 50MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 32MP selfie, 9210mAh, 100W, 163.44 x 78.27 x 8.6mm, 229.5g, Android 16, UFS2.1 (128), UFS4.0 (256/512)

Leaked full retail pricing (unconfirmed):

Note 17 4G 4/128 €250 – 6/256 € 300

Note 17 5G 6/256 € 400

Note 17 Pro 5G 6/256 € 500

Note 17 Pro 5G 8/256 € 600

All use a 50MP main, with just Pro and Pro Max getting an 8MP ultra-wide. Dropping the 108MP, and 200MP cameras of previous models, and starting from 4GB RAM, their focus seems to be mainly on far larger batteries. These changes certainly reflect much higher RAM, and storage costs. Interesting to see all, including the 4G model, with a Snapdragon chipset.

Launch dates, are not yet known, but with so much info leaked, and the Indian Note 17 launch set for August 6^(th), it’s unlikely to be far off.

Indian Note 17 Launch – Global Note 17 Price Leak

The Indian Redmi Note 17 5G, and Note 17 Pro 5G, will launch on August 6^(th). Their spec is expected to copy or very closely follow the Chinese variants.

While exact spec is yet to be confirmed, GSM Arena is reporting, prices for the global Note 17 range have leaked. If accurate, these would be full retail prices, regional variations, and early bird discounts etc., not applied. All obviously TBC.

Redmi Note 17 4G 4/128 €250 – 6/256 €300

Redmi Note 17 5G 6/256 €400.

Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G 6/256 €500

Redmi Note 17 Pro Max 5G 8/256 €600

The Indian and Chinese Note 17 range currently sits at just two models.

Assuming Xiaomi follow past Redmi Note, the global variants are likely to see larger camera sensors. The Note 17 (4G/5G?) is thought to include a 108MP main sensor.

With higher prices, lower spec, but potentially far larger batteries than Note 15, it seems clear Xiaomi has been forced to realign the entire range to accommodate higher RAM, and storage costs.

With Note 17 increasing in cost, it's unclear how this might also impact Note 15 end of line discounts. Global launch date yet to be confirmed, but assuming the price leaks, are accurate, I doubt it’s far off, possibly later in August.

Poco X8 5G In Works

GSM Arena is reporting that a regular Poco X8 5G, is in the system, based on the Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro. It was thought the M8 Pro 5G would effectively replace the vanilla X8, but it seems as though an X8 5G will also be released.

The Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro, has a basic 50MP camera (no OIS) and 8MP selfie, same/similar to Note 17 / Poco M8 Power (also expected soon), Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, comparable with 6 Gen 3 in Poco M8 5G, 6.83” 1280 x 2772 OLED, and potentially a 9000 mAh battery with 67W charging, and 22.5W reverse charging. Unlike M8 5G, X8 5G display is flat.

Both M8 Power and X8 5G appear to be big and heavy phones, even larger and heavier than the Poco X8 Pro Max.

Unclear at this stage, when or where it'll be released, or whether it will get the 9000mAh battery, but even so, should be larger than the 5520mAh, and 6500mAh of the M8, M8 Pro.

M8 Power and X8 5G, launch on Android 16, one OS upgrade advantage over M8 and M8 Pro.

Poco M8 Power - Set To Launch

GSM Arena are reporting that a new Poco model called the M8 Power, is set to launch. Unclear if it will get a full global release, but an Indian model, does seem to be confirmed.

Based on the Chinese Redmi Note 17, its Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset, sits around the performance level of the old Poco M7 Pro 5G, i.e. below the current M8 5G.

Potential M8 Power spec TBC - SD 4 Gen 4, 6GB/8GB, 128GB/256GB, 7” 1080x2396 120Hz OLED, 50MP main, 8MP selfie, 8000mAh battery, 45W charging, 22.5W reverse charging, single speaker, microSDX.

With that chipset and battery, very much a budget endurance phone, rather than gaming.

Given its fairly basic spec level, it will be interesting to see the price. Also as an 8 series rather than 9, it’s likely to be released fairly soon.

Redmi Turbo 5 Expected To Launch In India

GSM Arena has reported that the previously Chinese-only Redmi Turbo 5, which also sells as a global Poco X8 Pro, is set to launch in India soon.

Whether it will be identical to the Chinese model with its larger 7560 mAh battery (X8 Pro 6500 mAh), is unclear. The reason behind its release is also unclear, given both Poco X8 Pro (Redmi Turbo 5) and X8 Pro Max (Redmi Turbo 5 Max) are already sold in India.

It might be testing out the market for a non Poco branded alternative.

Chinese Redmi Turbo 5 spec. Indian version TBC.

Xiaomi 17T Series Launch Tipped

GSM Arena has reported Xiaomi's Global 17T & 17T Pro models are expected to launch on May 28th, both in India and globally.

Basic Spec

17T - 8500, 6.59", 6500 mAh, 67W, 50MP + 50MP Tele + 12MP UW + 32MP, Dual eSIM

17T Pro - 9500, 7000 mAh, 100W, 50W Wireless, 50MP + 50MP Tele + 12MP UW + 32MP, Metal Frame, Dual eSIM

Full Spec for both, here

Expected pricing was previously reported as 17T € 749, 17T Pro € 999. Those are base model prices without any launch discounts.

Pricing has jumped from last year's 15T series, and it will be interesting to see what discounts/offers are announced at launch. T series have previously been Xiaomi's flagship killer camera phones, but these prices push them into what was flagship pricing!

With the 2025 launched Xiaomi 17 flagship model seeing heavy discounts, the 17T Pro, could be price comparable!

Previous Xiaomi T series launched in September. With Poco F8 series launching last year in November, the two series might swap with possibly Poco F9 launching much later in the year.

Spec details, and European pricing for the forthcoming Xiaomi 17T series have leaked, and the notable changes appear to be bigger batteries and bigger prices.

GSM Arena Article

Xiaomi 17T - 6.59” 1268x2756 120Hz AMOLED / Dimensity 8500 / 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, 256 or 512GB UFS 4.1 storage / 6,500 mAh battery / 67W / Light Fusion 800 50MP Main / 50MP 5x telephoto / 12MP ultrawide / 32MP Selfie – Retail Price 12/256 (€ 799 TBC)

Xiaomi 17T Pro - 6.83" 1280x2772 120Hz AMOLED / Dimensity 9500 / 12GB LPDDR5X RAM, 512GB UFS 4.1 storage / 7000 mAh battery / 100W / 50W wireless / Light Fusion 950 50MP Main / 50MP 5x telephoto / 12MP ultrawide / 32MP Selfie – Retail Price 12/512 (€ 999 TBC)

17T changes over 15T, Dimensity 8500 (same as Poco X8 Pro), smaller 6.59” display (15T 6.83”), larger 6500mAh battery (15T 5500 mAh)

17T Pro changes over 15T Pro, Dimensity 9500, new Light Fusion 950 Main camera, larger 7000mAh battery (15T Pro 5500 mAh)

Both ship Android 16 Hyper OS3. If update policy is as 15T series, they will get 5 Android version upgrades, and 6 years of security updates

The changes seem minor compared to the € 100 price increase over 15T series. Prices are TBC, and don’t include any potential early bird discounts or free gift offers. Launch expected in May.

While you’d expect some improvements, especially battery life, over their predecessors, the heavy discounts available on 15T Pro (less than € 500 in some markets), makes it look even better value against the newer models.

Historically, Xiaomi’s T series has tended to make more economic sense towards the end of its run, rather than at launch, unless the free launch gift(s) are of value.

Possible image of 17T if accurate seems to indicate, not only does it look very similar to the 15T (flash moved), with no antenna lines in the frame, it might still use a plastic frame, same as 15T. 15T Pro has a metal frame, and likely the same for 17T Pro.
