So, in light of the end coming, what are your Top 12 essential, must-own-on-physical-disc PS5 games that require as few downloads, patches and updates as possible?

Let’s finish the collection!

So what is the best strategy for completing the collection before Jan 2028?

I have around 25 games I want to buy, I prefer buying new if possible, and I almost always buy from my local physical game stores. I was kind of completing my list slowly buying 1, occasionally 2 games per month, and usually what was on sale.

Now I will have to step on the gas, and perhaps not wait for certain games to be on sale. I kind of thought something might be up a few months ago actually, when a few first parties were on sale, sold out at the shops around me… and then just never came back in stock like they had been before.

Obviously smaller indies seem like the priority, but do we even know if Sony will continue printing first party games one by one until finally stopping everything?

Kicking myself for not picking up more in the recent Days Of Play sale. It’s crazy they didn’t announce the cease of production a few days before Days Of Play. They could have made a packet.

I guess they are gambling on the hope that we will all rush out now and buy their remaining stock at full price. It almost makes me want to stop buying anything right now.

Is there a spreadsheet for PS5 physicals like the Switch one that shows what version is on disc, if updates or downloads are needed, etc? (Link to Switch database in the body)

I know there is Does It Play but it is incomplete and a spreadsheet is much easier to scroll down and look at.

Crimson Desert - There is no point buying this on physical disc is there? Until they release a GOTY or Complete edition.

I really want to play it, but it seems like the physical requires a huge download and there are constant updates to it. It’s better to just play it digitally for now, right? And hope one day they stop updating it and release a final version on disc (before Jan 2028 😭)

(I don’t resell games)

Here are some photos of the Japanese Inferno flyer you can pick up in Tower Records. It's a roughly A1 size sheet folded in half to make a 4 page, A2 size booklet. Printed on a kind of matte paper that is also weirdly shiny at the same time. It's quite flimsy, a lot of the copies in the store had a little shelf damage just from regular handling.
