Catchin' Charges - Nu Idolz [Shoko]

Shoko’s back—and apparently staying out of trouble still isn’t on the agenda. 💛

“Catchin’ Charges” is a loud, shameless bad-bitch anthem packed with swagger, bad decisions, and absolutely zero intention of behaving.

What would you rather see?

Nu Idolz will always have humor in it's heart but there are stories I wish to tell with these girls that extend beyond memery and shitposting. Nu Idolz is a slice of life and as such sometimes life has a tendency to be a real kick in the balls...Nu Idolz has always had drama elements in it from the beginning when I started this project, but if that's not the kind of thing you guys vibe with or you think the themes are too much of a juxtaposition to be taken seriously...then by all means let me know.

The darker themes and storylines revolve around.

Post traumatic stress

Abandonment

The ability to forgive

Handling loss and grief

Mental health

Self hatred

Indoctrination

Nurture versus nature

Substance abuse

Responsibility to one's family

Familial expectations

Heartbreak

Past trauma

Physical abuse

Blood Family versus Found Family

Masking oneself

Public scrutiny

To name a few

Meet The Girls: Shoko Matsumoto

copy pasta'd cuz I'm bored

This is all me

from Tits Magee herself

>I’m 26, I’m from Osaka, and before anybody asks, yes, Osaka is actually better than Tokyo. Sorry not sorry Yuney. I rap. I sing. I perform. I look fuckin fantastic doing all 3. That’s pretty much the important shit.

>I’ve been informed this is supposed to help you “get to know me,” which sounds suspiciously like unpaid emotional labor, so let’s establish something right now: I’m not filling out a personality questionnaire for you people. You’ll figure me out. If you can't that sounds like a personal issue

>I’m loud. I swear. I drink expensive whiskey despite having absolutely no business spending that much money on whiskey. Good taste costs money unfortunately. I used to smoke cigs. I vape now.I drive a kei van from the 1990's which I've affectionately named ちんちん, which means it has more personality than any of your rides and approximately none of the dignity. My apartment looks like somebody lost a fight with a laundry basket. I look flawless my place doesn't have to.

>Yes, I care what I look like. A lot. There are people who say beauty is on the inside. Those people are usually just coping. I don’t own a mountain of nice clothes because nice clothes cost money and unfortunately so do the things that get me through the day. Nicotine, caffeine, 20 year old barrel aged brown liquids..Priorities. If I’m going out, though? Hair’s right. Makeup’s right. Outfit’s tight.

>Anyways as for the other three, Red’s...fine…pain in my ass, but y’know, that’s family for ya. How does a woman 2 years younger than me act like she's 10 years older and moonlight as political campaign manager? Like daddy chill... seriously. Hana is cute. Painfully cute. Like somebody engineered a human being specifically to make you feel bad for swearing around her. It doesn’t work. I still swear. And Yuna is......How do I put this politely? Yuna is what happens when the internet develops legs. She’ll send you a meme at two in the morning, forget why she sent it, remember six hours later, and then somehow you’re the asshole because you didn’t understand the context. I like her. She's like the kid sister I never had...I can still influence her...yasssss.

>I’ve also been told I’m “vain,” “brash,” “difficult,” “inappropriate,” and apparent the walking embodiment of "We're sorry the image you're trying to make may violate our guardrails around sexuality and erotic content" Fuck me for having naturally large frontal lobes.

>I’m not really interested in pretending to be nicer than I am just because people are watching. If I like you, you’ll know. If I don’t like you...you’ll definitely know. I think fake pleasantries are a waste of everybody’s fucking time. If somebody’s screwing with you, say it. If somebody looks good, tell them. If you want something, ask for it.If you’re attracted to somebody—

>Mei has apparently requested that I stop here. Prude

>Well, that’s probably enough personal growth shit for one Reddit post. You want that sentimental crap, go read Hana’s introduction. You want screeching howler monkey energy, go find Yuna. You want somebody to make sure this entire operation doesn’t collapse, that’s our Most Honorable Chairwoman, and if you want somebody with good taste, questionable spending habits, a mouth that routinely causes problems, and enough confidence for the entire group...

>Sup, I’m Shoko. If you're cool you're already part of the Nu Crew. You’re welcome
-Shoko 💛

Meet The Girls: Hana Park💙

💙 안녕하세요... H-Hi, I’m Hana.

Um...oh...oh dear.

I’m Hana Park?

...I had something much better planned in my head before everybody started expecting me to do this.

I'm sorry...I'm not good at this.

I'm 22, I was born in Korea, and I'm probably the quietest member of Nu Idolz.

Actually...no.

I AM definitely the quietest member.

It's hard not to be when people like Yuna exist.

I-I don't really know how to introduce myself without making this sound like one of those things where you're supposed to list all of your good qualities, and that feels...really uncomfortable.

So I guess I'll just tell you what I'm actually like.

I'm shy.

I worry about things...

A lot.

Sometimes things that probably don't need to be worried about.

Sometimes things that haven't happened.

Sometimes things that aren't even remotely going to happen, but apparently my brain likes preparing for them anyway.

...It can be helpful?

Sometimes it's worrying about things like whether Yuna is going to bring Sir Bonk into the office again.

I hate bugs.

But there's one place where all of that kind of disappears for me.

Music.

I love singing.

And it's hard to explain, but when I'm really singing—not thinking about whether I'm doing it correctly, not wondering what somebody thinks of me, just actually singing—everything gets quiet.

All the nervous thoughts stop fighting for attention.

I'm not wondering if I said something stupid.

I'm not worried about what happens tomorrow.

I'm not thinking about all the things I should be doing or whether I'm doing enough.

For those few minutes...

I'm just there.

And I can breathe.

I think that's probably why music means so much to me.

I'm not the loudest person in Nu Idolz.

I'm definitely not the bravest.

...Although Mei keeps telling me I need to stop saying that.

She says being scared and doing something anyway still counts.

I'm...working on believing her.

The other girls help.

Yuna can drag me into things before I have enough time to become afraid of them.

Shoko somehow makes me feel safe and terrified at exactly the same time.

And Mei...

Mei...

Mei is amazing.

She takes care of all of us more than she likes admitting. She's so hardworking and put together that it's hard not to admire that.

She also can, um...be a little...

strict.

THAT'S NOT NECESSARILY A BAD THING!

Unless you're Yuna or Shoko.

Ahem...

Sorry.

This group can be a lot.

They can be embarrassing.

They can be very, very loud...

But I love them.

...Please don't show Shoko I said anything bad about her.

Wait.

Everyone is probably reading this.

Oh no.

Ummm.

There's one other thing that's important to me.

My faith.

I don't usually like pushing something that personal onto other people, so I'm not going to preach at anybody here.

But...yeah.

I have a close relationship with Jesus.

Or, as Alex calls Him...

“Big J.”

...Better than saying His name in vain, I suppose.

My faith gives me somewhere to put things when they feel too heavy for me to carry by myself.

And I think it reminds me to try to be gentle with people.

Not perfect.

Just...

gentler.

I like gentle things.

Quiet mornings.

The ocean.

Little animals.

Pretty music.

Sitting with someone without needing to fill every second with talking.

And apparently being called “cute” by everyone I know despite repeated objections.

I have been told that objecting only makes me more cute...

So...

That's me, I guess.

I'm Hana.

I'm nervous a lot.

I sing when life gets too heavy.

And I love this little family more than I really know how to say.

I'm really happy you're here with us, guys.

I-I hope you'll stick around.

And...

um...

Welcome to the Nu Crew. 💙

...Was that okay?

Meet The Girls: Yuna Yamada 💚

💚 HIIIIII NU CREW!!! I’M YUNA!!!

Okay okay okay so apparently I'm supposed to introduce myself like a normal human person and not a perpetually 20 year old Japanese ai idol waifu and tell you who Yuna Yamada actually is which seems unfair because I have spent a considerable amount of my life avoiding exactly that level of self-reflection but...HERE...WE...go. [Inserts joker meme]

Hi!!! Konnichiwhatsup

I'm Yuna Yamada. 💚

I'm one-fourth of Nu Idolz, professional bad influence, recreational meme archaeologist, occasional singer, enthusiastic dancer, certified maker of faces that apparently get screenshotted EVERY SINGLE TIME I EXPERIENCE AN EMOTION, and according to Mei, “the reason plans require contingency plans.”

I think she means I'm adaptable.

She says that is not what she means.

Anyway—

I LIKE FUN.

That's probably the easiest place to start.

I like making people laugh. I like music that makes you want to move your booty before you've even decided whether you like it yet. I like stupid jokes that get funnier because you've repeated them 600 times. I like sending somebody a meme at 2:13 in the morning with absolutely ZERO CONTEXT and then waiting to see if they understand me spiritually.

Sometimes they do.

Sometimes Mei asks me why I'm awake.

Those are not mutually exclusive events.

BEANS

I'm also apparently the member of Nu Idolz with approximately 100 reaction faces.

I dispute this number.

There are at least 1000

I'M EXPRESSIVE.

Sue me... actually please don't Alex doesn't pay me enough to allow me to afford legal counsel

ANYWAY AGAIN! If I'm excited, you're going to know.

If I'm confused, you're definitely going to know.

If somebody says something stupid, there is a very good chance my face will become a meme before I've even processed what happened.

And YES.

Before any of you little goblins start:

YOU DON'T HAVE TO TALK ABOUT THE SQUARE PIZZA THING

You people have bullied me enough. 😭

I MAKE ONE STRONG OPINION ABOUT GEOMETRICALLY QUESTIONABLE PIZZA AND SUDDENLY IT BECOMES PART OF MY LEGACY.

Do you know what it's like knowing someone can post an image of a rectangle with cheese on it and fifty people immediately think:

"Yuna would hate this."

...

I reserve the right to complain loudly every single time.™️

That's our arrangement now.

But I guess if I'm being slightly more serious for a minute—

ugh

I really, really love what we have.

Nu Idolz is weird.

We're messy.

We annoy each other constantly.

We have arguments about things nobody should ever have arguments about.

Somehow memes become lore.

Sometimes the lore becomes canon.

Sometimes Alex gives us an idea and I can literally watch Mei's soul leave her body.

It's great.

But the girls are my family.

Hana is ridiculously easy to tease, but I'd also fight God behind a Denny's for her.

Mei acts like we're shortening her lifespan—which, okay, probably—but she's also the person I trust when everything stops being funny.

And Shoko...

Shoko is what happens when somebody takes charisma and removes the factory-installed safety measures .

I respect it tremendously.

They put up with me when I'm loud.

They laugh when I'm stupid.

They know when I'm using jokes because I'm actually nervous.

And even when we're driving each other completely insane, I've never once wondered whether those three have my back.

So yeah.

They're my people.

And if you're hanging around here because something about these four idiots made you laugh, made you care, made you make something, or just made your day a tiny bit better...

then I'm really freaking happy you're here.

Please make memes.

Seriously.

Draw things. Post dumb screenshots. Make reaction images. Ask us ridiculous questions. Talk about episodes. Share theories. Make jokes that spiral wildly out of control until Alex accidentally canonizes them six months from now.

Participate.

Don't just stand outside staring through the window like some kind of Victorian orphan.

COME INSIDE.

WE HAVE MEMES.

And pizza.

PROPERLY CUT PIZZA THATS CUT INTO TRIANGLE SLICES AS GOD INTENDED

I cannot believe I needed to specify that.

Anyway—

I'm Yuna Yamada.

I'm loud.

I'm happy.

I'm probably online.

I'm absolutely going to embarrass myself here eventually.

And if you joined us this early...

WELCOME TO THE NU CREW, BABYYYYY!!! 💚💚💚 My vote was for calling your guy our "Nudes" no one took me up on that...weird

We are going to make some unbelievably stupid memories together.

And I mean that as the highest possible compliment.

— Yuna 💚

P.S. If you post square pizza at me, I will respond.

This is not permission.

This is a warning.
