So we are trying to unionize and our hospital is doing typical : “We care! We’re sorry we didn’t know how bad things got for you all!” “Let’s talk and have that 1:1 collaboration,” and things like “if you sign a union card they have your info and will pester you and even come to your house!” These are done as meetings with the COO of our region so we can tell them why we are pissed and what they are going to do to make things right while just giving us some info about what it means to sign a union card (ie, info collecting, we don’t have to sign the cards and if we do it means we actually lose our voice if there are so many signatures.)
They gave us links we could use to get more info, but many of us feel skeptical about what they gave us. Since many of us have never worked for union
Hospitals (there are not many around us and this system is fairly large) - where can I find legit information about what reps can and cannot do…what they actually can do to help (we were told they really
Can’t help us get a written into policy nurse to patient ratio with the exception of emergencies like disasters.).
Basically - I need actual information and I don’t want to use a site that is basically fear mongering and is just fact based.
The information we got felt like it was a scare tactic and because we have lost our trust in administration all together - we need resources as this is new for majority of us.
When we adopted this handsome fella they said he was a Shepard mix. As he got older he started to look more like a hound. He is such a mix of colors from shades of browns and reds to black with a white chevron on his chest and one toe. His supposed brother had similar coloring but had two different eye colors. He was definitely found and was younger than the rescue realized when they adopted him out to us. Walks are him nose to the ground 90% of the time. He is so vocal and makes the funniest sounds.
When I did a google pic to see if I could ID him (can’t do a DNA right now thanks to having to do a major home repair) - he comes up as a Polish hound. But I don’t know enough about them or any hound really.
Any ideas? Any tips for dealing with a hound ? He loves to go after my kids used napkins and shred paper up. He is all bark and can be a scaredy-cat.
We are working on getting him to lose 5-10 lbs - he was 103 lbs at the vet and the doc wanted him to lose weight. Which means keeping an eagle eye on everyone who wants to give him a treat.
I need somewhere to be honest. I need some kindness right now. I feel like I am at the end of my rope.
I dread waking up in the morning. I have 2 adhd kids. The youngest is the toughest. They wake up at the crack ass of dawn no matter what we do. They don’t quietly wake up either. It’s loud and non-stop. It sucks. We have to time out their medication to help them with school. The hours between them waking up and their medication kicking in are incredibly difficult.
I wake up to a steaming cup of pure cortisol…I instantly feel stressed. I know my morning is going to be me repeating myself until I am near tears, breaking up fights between the two kids, correcting behavior, them jumping and repeating the same questions, and not being able to even take a piss without there being an issue. I feel like I am ignored and talked over until I start yelling. Then I just feel like shit for the rest of the AM.
My youngest has broken so many things since they were a toddler (now they are 7) and I have to keep my eye on them non-stop because they might do something stupid and break yet another thing in our home. We can’t afford to fix two things in the house right now and I hate that the house looks the way it does because of of it (broken banister spindles, cabinet doors ripped out and chipped)I’m tired of replacing things they destroyed or not being able to replace (remote controls and covers for them, mementos after they climbed up a book shelf with a chair.). And before someone asks why wasn’t I paying attention - I can only be in 1 place at a time. Sometimes it’s while I’m using the bathroom or cooking dinner. And my other child deserves to have attention as well.
Once the meds kick in - it is like a switch. They listen and can control their body. But before it and at the end of the day I FEEL anxious and stressed. I hate waking up and feeling the weight of it all pressing down on me. I want to enjoy my kids. I want to be able to have easy mornings. I AM jealous of those who have kids who just fucking listen by the 3rd time and not the 33rd time. I am jealous of parents who have kids that wake up later then 630 (our day sometimes starts before 5 😩)
I don’t even know anymore. I can’t even focus on writing this right now. I don’t know what I am looking for. I just feel so damn alone. I feel like a shitty ass parent. I feel like crap when I have to yell for them to leave me alone for ten minutes after telling them 500 times in various ways that I need a moment to myself. I feel like I am screaming into a void or being punished for something I have done. My spouse also has adhd and we are working on things to help for him.
