For me my favourite album is Magical Mystery Tour and my favourite song is Blue Jay Way

I dreamt that Ozzy Osbourne had a bunch of children in the 50s who all turned out to be legendary guitarists (particularly in metal bands)

The only one I remember is Stevie Ray Vaughan (who I know next to nothing about and was a legendary metal guitarist in the dream)

Album of the week #28

Sorry I missed 2 weeks, I was very busy and had no time to listen to albums. As an apology I've also included some pictures of my cats because I think people will appreciate that.

Album name: Dungeon

Artist name: muque

Genre: Indie J-Pop

Although I typically don't recommend many pop albums (just because I'm usually not as into it compared to other genres), I will say this is a very good album. Over the last 2 weeks I've been quite stressed because of assignments and now that the most concerning assessments are over, listening to a poppy album like this is just what I need to help remind myself of the fact that the assessments are over and I can finally relax for a bit. (Sorry that this is a bit more half-assed than normal, it's midnight and this is all my brain can get out rn)

I've made a realisation

I'm legit like a fucking bear in hibernation; I'm spending most of the day sleeping and spending a good percentage of the rest of the time eating. On top of that it's also winter

Album of the week #27

Album name: FUZZTRONICA EP-1
Artist name: FuzzTronica
Genre: Alternative Rock

Sorry I'm extremely late this time, I've had a busy week (had an anime convention on on the weekend, it was fun, I walked so much I haven't been able to feel one of my toes for the past 3 days and afterwards I honestly just have been distracted). Anyway, this one is an amazing alt rock album mixing features of hip hop, electronic music, punk, and hard rock. It really reminds me of Regurgitator (another amazing alt rock band). This album is quite short but despite this it is really good. They also happen to be from my home city (Sydney) so there's a good chance I can see them live one day!

Album of the week #26

Album name: Return to Dust

Artist name: Ares Kingdom

Genres: Death metal, thrash metal

Sorry I'm 1 or 2 days late this time! (I honestly just forgot on Saturday and it took me a while to work out what I felt like listening to yesterday, plus I ended up staying up till 4 am gaming)

This time I felt like I needed something fast-paced; not uplifting but energetic. This album perfectly scratched that itch. The guitar parts in this album are so incredibly impressive to say the least (I'm saying this as a guitarist) and they also just sound really good. I also really like the vocals since unlike a lot of other death metal you can clearly understand the lyrics (don't get me wrong, I love albums where you can't easily understand the lyrics as well, this just stood out to me). The lyrics also do a really good job at painting a picture in your mind of what is being described. The drums also work really well, helping to set the mood by emphasising the tempo changes. Overall this album is amazing and very energetic with amazing guitar parts and lyrics that really allow you to imagine what is happening.

Album of the week #25

Album name: Taxidermy

Artist name: Queen Adreena

Genres: Alternative rock, gothic rock

Sorry I'm 2 hours late this time.

This one is another truly amazing album. I really love the eerie vibes of this album. I also love how it uses a mixes energetic, distorted sounds with calmer, clean tones, while having lots of reverb throughout the album, adding to the eerie timbre. For me X'Ing off the Days was one of the standout tracks, starting with just an eerie vocal part that sounds almost like a ghost, then having a terraced dynamic, with the lead vocals, distorted guitar, drums and bass entering. This really helps make the song interesting and also helps with the structure as the eerie ghost-like vocal part plays on top of the lead vocals in the choruses and the distorted guitar plays in between the end of the chorus and the start of the next verse, helping to differentiate them. Overall this album is an amazing, eerie gothic rock album.

I had a dream where I went to Nar Nar Goon, Victoria, Australia, found a Jewish WW1 memorial on the side of the road, and then went to Harbin, China to tell people about this

I also remember Harbin in the dream was a tiny city and like 15 to 20 years ago where a child got hit crossing the road and (despite dream Harbin having practically no children), everyone was overly cautious specifically about hitting children with cars/bikes. In the dream, Harbin also looked a lot uglier than it does in real life (so ignore the fact that the image is not actually of Harbin, it was the only place I could find in China that fit the vibe I remember). I also remember at one point asking a woman if her bike has hydraulic brakes.

How are you guys?

I'm really fucking cold (it's sub 10 Celsius rn, and before you tell me that's not cold, I live in Australia and here we have really bad insulation in our buildings and no central heating)

Album of the week #24

Album name: Miłość w czasach popkultury
Artist name: Myslovitz
Genres: Post-Britpop, Alternative Rock

Sorry I'm technically like 2 hours late this time (which doesn't really matter but whatever)

This album is really sounds amazing, simultaneously sounding eerie and energetic at different parts of the album. I also really love the Britpop influences (I've recently been really into Blur) and the use of (what I believe to be) synthesizer occasionally. This album overall just sounds very good and I would especially recommend it to people like me who also like bands like Blur. I feel I should also mention that I do not speak Polish, and I would probably also be able to enjoy this album even more if I understood (but I still enjoy this very well regardless)

Album of the Week #23

Album name: Science Fiction
Artist name: Blackmail
Genres: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock

This album is really amazing, I love the grunge influences and the shoegazy sounds. I also quite liked how 'Londeria' uses what sounds like to me to be a Mellotron, somewhat reminding me of the Beatles song 'Strawberry Fields Forever'. I also in general quite like how this album isn't afraid to use instruments that aren't typical in rock every now and again, for example in 'Dull' there is a trumpet part. overall this is an amazing album and I would say that people (like me) who like grunge will really enjoy this.

Drew this quick drawing of the prince from Katamari Damacy for part of my homework

I feel quite proud of this (especially since I'm someone who doesn't really draw at all)

u/Nullifier_ — 2 months ago

What are some of your favourite game soundtracks?

For me my number 1 is Persona 5, followed by Katamari Damacy and my 3rd favourite is probably Undertale (though my 3rd favourite is a lot harder to choose, half-life 2 is also up there)

Album of the Week #22

Album name: HomuraUta
Artist name: MUCC
Genres: Alternative metal, alternative rock, grunge, nu metal

Sorry I'm a bit late for this one, I recently got Satisfactory and have spent all of my free time playing that and got completely side tracked. This album is amazing, I love how it manages to have such an amazing timbre overall, while also making sure there's nuance between the songs in terms of timbre (in a way that despite having different timbres, really fits together well). I also feel like I should mention that the album cover of this album was illustrated by Junji Ito, my personal favourite mangaka.

I dreamt that suddenly up was sideways, so that all streets and stuff like that were like walls

I remember I was holding on for dear life trying to get places
