if there’s other non rock or metal genres with good screamers feel free but most of the screamers are in metal
these are my personal favorites. if you don’t know any of these artists go check them out they’re amazing.
My sisters constantly HATEE on my music taste and I really need to know…is it that bad?
Some of the artists I listen to are:
• Bôa
• TV Girl
• Mitski
• Tyler, The Creator
• Kendrick Lamar
• Radiohead
• Heavenly
• Gorillaz
• Beach Bunny
• Queen
• Arctic Monkeys
So, I need an outsides opinion, is my music taste really that bad? 😭
Hello,
I was curious about how everyone else here finds fresh songs or podcasts on Spotify.
Do you rely on Discover Weekly/Radios, search specific mood keywords, or just look outside the app on TikTok and social media?
I put together a super quick 2-minute poll to see what methods work best for everyone:
Would love to hear your thoughts and any tips you have!
For context I'm in the very very early stages of starting a band (yes I know, no teenager has ever tried that before). I've already got a name, ideas for the sound, everything planned out, I just need to get off my couch and create some music.
The music I've been thinking about creating is this blend of hardcore aggressive punk music, reminiscent of the classic DC hardcore scene, and Black MIDI style brutal prog, with a lot of jazz, noise rock, and metal influence. (Weird time sigs, tempo changes, atonal frantic jazz bits, dissonance, heavy use of feedback and distortion, the whole 9 yards). The reason I settled in this sound is because it's what my "dream music" sounds like, the kind of perfect blend of influences and musicality that makes that perfect 10/10 for me.
Because music and taste is so varied, I want to know what that sounds like for you. What does your perfect album sound like, what are its influences, what is it about, all about that beautiful piece of music you have in your head. I know what I would find perfect would be some people's least favorite thing, and I want to know what would be your favorite piece of hypothetical music instead.
I think it’s pretty cool and there’s some very good producers
I’m in Amsterdam and just goth this album that I’ve never heard of, by an artist that I’ve never heard of. I just listened to it and it solid pop-punk. Has anybody ever heard of this? it’s not on streaming and google has no idea about it, if you know it, please give me some info about the album.
Let's make a list of pure masterpieces.
Current list:
€ Hurt - nine inch nails
€ You might think he loves you for your money but he really loves you for your leopard skin pillbox hat - death grips
€ Teeth like god's shoeshine - modest mouse
cya tomorrow.
tpab, illmatic, innervations, imaginal disk, songs in the key of life, long session, and dark Side of the moon and the black saint and the sinner lady would make my top 100. So 8/100 for me. afut, the collage dropout, what’s going on, and the low end theory are are close tho.
i did this one but last time i asked for only rap. now you can bring rap or non-rap, as long as there's a decent chance that i'll know atleast some music by the artist. if i know songs by him, i'll give you my favorite song. if i don't know, you'll give me your favorite song by him.
don't give songs from different languages, cause there's simply no way i'll know.
Hey y'all,
I'm starting my sophmore year of college in a couple days here and there's gonna be a lot going on in my life, meaning that this sub unfortunately won't be a priority for me. Mental-Alternative38 is going to take my place as the owner of the sub and will also oversee the AOTY elimination posts if they so choose.
You'll probably still see me from time to time if I ever get bored or feel like sharing something, but I am not going to be a moderator here anymore.
JesseAmpersands signing off ✌️
I'm currently planning to start a personal project, where every week, I listen to the full discography of one artist, in order to not only be able to listen to some deeper cuts, let myself listen to music I don't normally, and chronicle the evolution of an artist. I'm also going to write out my thoughts on the discography here when I finish.
But first I need some recommendations as to which artists to run through first. Currently I know I'm doing R.E.M., The Smiths and Opeth first, but after that I have no idea. What artists do you want to see my write about, and which would be most fun to run through?
Edit: I already have 10 weeks worth of discographies now, so from now on, I'll add your artist to the list if they get at least 5 upvotes. Also only comment 1 artist please. Thank you! I'll add more to the list below as people comment artists.
Week 1: R.E.M.
Week 2: The Smiths
Week 3: Opeth
Week 4: Nightwish
Week 5: The Warning
Week 6: The Beths
Week 7: Rush
Week 8: Deafheaven
Week 9: Death Grips
Week 10: Swans
jesse is leaving the sub and he’s not going to be doing this tornament thing anymore.
you guy’s have 3 choices
we end the tournament
we continue the tournament
we do 1 final round where we remove everything but 1 album
If there is any albums I missed tell them to me
Don't use band names or other related artists, or anything that will make it too obvious!
Describing the sound, lyrics, or story around the album is ok, but please don't say the album's name, the band's name, or the names of any artists connected to the album.
