give me a non-niche artist(preferably your favorite) and i'll give you my favorite song by him.

i did this one but last time i asked for only rap. now you can bring rap or non-rap, as long as there's a decent chance that i'll know atleast some music by the artist. if i know songs by him, i'll give you my favorite song. if i don't know, you'll give me your favorite song by him.

don't give songs from different languages, cause there's simply no way i'll know.

Give me your favorite rapper(or other genre) and I’ll give you my favorite song

please don’t give really underground artists but more mainstream cause there will be more chance I know(doesn’t have to be Drake mainstream but ykwim)

I’ll give you my favorite song, and if I don’t know any song you’ll give me a song to rate

please give rappers cause I’m more familiar with rap, but if you don’t listen to rap at all you can give other artists(preferably rnb/rock/pop)

also don’t give underground artists but more mainstream cause there will be more chance I know(doesn’t have to be Drake mainstream but ykwim)

suggest me songs that will make me want to listen to the album immediately!

please give me songs that will make me interested in the album and want to listen to the album.

i mainly like rap, rnb, pop, soul, rock(like the beatles, but also a bit of prog).

please don't suggest metal/k pop. i like metal only if it's softer(like black sabbath's paranoid).

please specify the genre, artist, name of the song of course, and name of album.

my top 80 albums - thoughts, recs and questions will be appreciated!

what do you think about my top 80? they are in order(pretty much).

i've heard only about 120 albums so not all of those are my favorites.

let me know what you think about them, and recommend albums you think i'll like.

also you can ask me about my favorite/worst/all of that stuff, from any album you want.

u/Most-Huckleberry1700 — 5 days ago

what's the most essential album for a music starter(in general and in your favorite genre)

also give your favorite song(if you want) from the albums)

in general i would songs in the key of life, favorite song is As

in my favorite genre, which is rap, i would say illmatic by nas, favorite song is the world is yours

NOTE: the most essential doesn't necessarily needs to be the best(cause the best is a lot of times more niche/not for starters), but it needs to be the most influential and classic. i trust your discretion.

okay i've wanted to listen to this one for a long time, and finally got to it.

fav song: leave the door open/smoking out the window
worst: 777(it's nice but it's nowhere near the other songs)
underrated: put on a smile
overrated: after last night

final thoughts: really nice album, the chemistry between the two is incredible, their vocals are incredible and they compliment each other perfectly. neither seem to have ego and it's great to see that they give each other the stage. i really like the romantic sound of the album and the choruses (most of the are just heavenly). mars has a beautiful voice and really makes the choruses great as they are, and .paak has this great more hip-hop influential parts which makes the verses just catchy and groovy, so yeah they are a great duo(even i would say the perfect duo). but not all tracks were incredible as the highs, so that's why the album didn't get a 90+, but it's so close to that.
also there are some crazy lines like the line: "not to be dramatic but i wanna die", it's just hilarious.

so yeah i would really love to have another project from them!

final rating: 89/100

(i posted this also on bruno's sub, but i wanted to post it here too[don't tell bruno's fans, but i think paak is better])

also lmk which paak album i should review next, and whether or not you actually want a review.

kendrick hot takes 1-10 stop me when i'm wrong

1/10 - DUCKWORTH. is the best song on DAMN.

2/10 - how much a dollar cost and i are both top 5 tpab

3/10 - the heart part 5 is the best in the heart series, but heart pt 6 is very close

4/10 - hood politics is the worst song on tpab

5/10 - kendrick's best feature is mona lisa

6/10 - bitch don't kill my vibe (jay z remix) is better than the original

7/10 - GOD. is a great song and not the worst on DAMN.

8/10 - we cry together is a good song

9/10 - DAMN. is kendrick's best album and mr morale right behind

10/10 - SAMIDOT is not in the top 20 kendrick songs(still good tho)

these are just my opinions and i stand behind any of those. the only one that i would maybe debate on is kendrick's best feature cause he has so many great features, but my favorite at the moment is mona lisa for sure(and was for a lot of time)

let me know which takes are bullshit and which takes you agree with.

listening to one(hopefully great) album a day. day 24

the 23rd album is 2112 by Rush

album rating - 87/100

top 3: 1. 2112 2.a passage to bangkok 3. the twilight zone

least favorite track - tears

thoughts on the album: great rock album, has some amazing guitar riffs, the title track of course is incredible and the other songs are great/good as well. although i would say that a passage to bangkok is almost the same level as 2112. the only weak(er) song is tears which doesn't fit the vibe of the album and i didn't really like the different vibe it brought to the album.

the title track is just so cool, it's one of the best structured songs i've heard. the story is amazing and thrilling, and the way they tell it, with the different sections and the different voices for the characters is just great. also the guitar riffs are amazing.

RULES:

- Please suggest great albums that you think that I need to hear.
- I will listen to the most upvoted album so please upvote the albums you think that I need to hear.
- I prefer rap and rnb, but I'm fine with most other genres.

- PLEASE NO EXTREME METAL AND NO K-POP.

- NO DOWNVOTING OTHER COMMENTS!!! it ruins the whole thing.

- also the albums will be in a ranked order

- the album must be on spotify

- no pink floyd, kanye west, bjork.

What are some of the best slash songs?

it’s seems that a lot of the times the slash songs are the highlight of a project(at least in rap) like Tyler the creator has one in almost every album and it’s always peak.

so can you give me your favorite ones?

ill try to rate them out of ten when I wake up tomorrow

also please no metal, at least not extreme metal with a lot of screams

listening to one(hopefully great) album a day. day 23

the 22nd album is Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis

album rating - 80/100

top 3: 1.all blues 2. blue in green 3. flamenco sketches

least favorite track - freddie freeloader(all were great and similar in quality but this one was like the slightest bit less interesting)

thoughts on the album: overall pretty nice jazz album, i don't think it's the best jazz album oat or something like that, i liked the black saint a lot more and timeout by dave brubeck a bit more too, but it is a great jazz album and makes a great use of the saxophones and a bit of piano and drums. i would've loved if there was more use of piano and other instruments cause it was mainly the saxophones. but overall it is great for just relaxing or studying. also it's cool that they only needed one or two takes for each song.

listening to one(hopefully great) album a day. day 22

the 21st album is Blonde on Blonde by Bob Dylan

album rating - 80/100

top 3: 1.i want you 2.leopard-skin pill-box hat 3. one of us must know(sooner or later)

least favorite track - absolutely sweet marie

thoughts on the album: the album is pretty nice, his songwriting and the instrumentals are pretty good, but some songs are just a lot longer that needed and just stretch and drag. also it's a bit annoying how he's putting emphasize in the end of each line. also in tracks like stuck inside a mobile... - it's nice and fun but why he needs 9 verses? also it's too long in my opinion - if it was like 9 tracks, 50-55 minutes it would be nice and get like 85, but an hour and 13 minutes and double album, 14 tracks that some of them are 7 minutes and more, it's too long. but overall all the tracks were nice, no mid or bad tracks, also the songs that were a bit different were nice like leopard-skin pill-box hat and it is nice as like background music, it's very relaxing.

listening to one(hopefully great) album a day. day 21

the twentieth album is - From the Choir Girl Hotel by Tori Amos

album rating - 85/100

top 3: 1.raspberry swirl 2.spark 3.northern lad HM: she's your cocaine

least favorite track - liquid diamonds

thoughts on the album: the vocals were really beautiful and the production was great throughout the tracklist. some songs weren't the most interesting, whether it was the production that wasn't the most interesting or the vocals that didn't manage to keep up with the production. another thing is that a lot of the time the chorus really carries the song and the verses aren't really interesting at least vocally(not in all songs). but still there were great highlights on the project and her voice is really beautiful so that's the reason for the pretty high rating.

listening to one(hopefully great) album a day. day 18

the seventeenth album is - Time by ELO

album rating - 87/100

top 3: 1. twilight 2. ticket to the moon 3. here is the news

least favorite track - another heart breaks(just not very interesting)

thoughts on the album: great album, great electronic and futuristic production. the vocals are really good most of the time, has this 70's-80's sound. the concept of the album, as well as the concept of most songs, is very interesting, has a lot of meaning even for our time. the album started really strong and fell a bit after another heart breaks(still had some great songs like here is the news and hold on tight, and the other songs are still nice). so overall, the album is very nice, i'm sure i'll return to him more and maybe it'll grow on me even more, and I recommend it to everyone that haven't heard it already and want some happy vibe songs with rich concept. also twilight maybe even rivals mr blue sky as ELO's best song imo.

RULES:

- Please suggest great albums that you think that I need to hear.
