Invited to Display My Race-Used Mark Martin Collection at Mark’s Book Signing in Maine

Had the opportunity of a lifetime play out yesterday as I got to temporarily relocate the majority of my race used Mark Martin collection from New Hampshire to Bentley's Saloon in Maine in support of Mark’s book tour signing.

Incredible experience to share the collection in person with tons of Martin fans and beyond surreal to spend time with Mark and his son Matt chatting about the pieces.

Might have some exciting developments to share in the near future as well, as always thanks for taking a look.

Mark Martin’s 17-Foot 1992 Valvoline Pit-Wall Banner

Just created a 17-by-2-foot display challenge for myself after acquiring Mark Martin’s 1992 pit-wall banner.

So far, I’ve matched this design to period footage from multiple races, including both of Martin’s Cup victories that season, at Martinsville and Charlotte.

Folgers shifted to an associate role in 1992 as Valvoline took over primary sponsorship of the No. 6, beginning one of the most successful and enduring driver–sponsor partnerships of its era.

1987 Mark Martin/Bruce Lawmaster Busch Grand National driversuit

This is by far the oldest and rarest Mark Martin piece I’ve been fortunate enough to acquire: a 1987 Mark Martin/Bruce Lawmaster Busch Grand National driversuit.

The '87 season was a critical one for Mark. After his first Cup effort had ended in bankruptcy and embarrassment earlier in the decade, he returned to NASCAR full-time with Lawmaster’s small No. 31 Ford team. They ran the entire season with just two cars, an open trailer, two full-time employees and a group of volunteers.

He won three races that year at Dover, Orange County and Richmond, his first wins in the Busch Series and the only season he ever ran the series full-time.

What makes the suit especially significant is what came next. Mark’s performance in that small operation put him back on NASCAR’s radar and led directly to his opportunity with Jack Roush for 1988, beginning the partnership that defined most of his Cup career.

Looking forward to getting it signed when Mark comes through on his book tour in the coming weeks!

Mark Martin Sponsor Shadowbox Project Progress

Quite pleased with how this came out. The 16x20s are Studio Decor brand purchased on sale at Michael's if anyone is interested in doing something similar, they're 25 bucks each.

Not sure which direction I'm going with the signed firesuit yet, I've got options with 30x40 and 24x30 shadowboxes, but they are both behemoths and will require a bit more planning to hang.

As always thanks for your time, and feel free to shoot any questions you may have

#6 AAA Roush Fenway NASCAR Unused Roof Number Decal

Thought this was a pretty cool find. It’s from the 2007-2008 range so it’s post-Mark Martin’s run in the 6 car but incredibly similar to his color scheme in 2006 during certain races. Not sure what I could potentially adhere it to for display purposes, but man would be hilarious to just throw it on roof of my car 😆

Trevor Bayne's 2015 Darlington throwback to Mark Martin's Iconic 1998 'Flying V' scheme

Welcoming the newest acquisition to the ever evolving Mark Martin collection. This is the first tribute/throwback piece I've come across and the seller was able to get it signed somewhat recently as well. Very well may have to expand into a different room here shortly, as display space is quickly diminishing. A fun problem to have for sure though, thanks for taking a look!

1986 Tim Richmond Hendricks Folgers Crew Worn Uniform

I've been hunting for a Mark Martin '90-'91 Folgers crew uniform and while that has yet to bear fruit I did manage to acquire this 1986 uniform belonging to Dennis Connor.

This uniform saw Victory Lane seven times in 1986 during Tim Richmond's career-best season. Connor would later go on to become Richmond's Crew Chief in '87 during his comeback from a serious illness.

Mark Martin Sponsor Shadowbox Wall Progress (1989-2006)

If anyone is interested in doing something similar these 16x20 cases are going for $20 bucks online at Michael's

Pretty pleased with how the Folgers jacket presents, aside from that piece these are all crew issued uniforms or firesuits/jackets. I do believe the Folgers was team issued gear, but still on the hunt for the real deal uniform

I may eventually do another wall with a additional set of six: US Army, Pennzoil, AAA, Whistler Radar Detector, Carolina Ford Dealers ('17 Throwback) and IROC True Value (Replica)

If anyone has leads on a Kelloggs/Carquest crew shirt I'd be all ears too!

Mark Martin Sheetmetal Restoration

Thanks to the folks at COMP-CAL, I was able to do a small restoration project on a Mark Martin right rear lower quarter panel I acquired.

It was in sad shape, but with some surface cleaning and a new Cummins decal we're back to looking much closer to how it hit the track.

The Vavoline era wall is coming along piece by piece (front clip not pictured) 😁

Any insight into this right front fender?

The scheme looks incredibly similar to Mark Martin’s 1996-1997 car but the contingencies don’t match either year and the addition of the small 6 decal is also throwing me off.

Trevor Bayne ran a throwback Valvoline scheme in 2016 at Darlington which I also thought might be related. But again the sponsors don’t align there either. I’m thinking maybe a show car or possibly someone added the stickers for some reason.

Any help or leads appreciated!

Ask your doctor if Mark Martin memorabilia is right for you

Side effects may include reduced savings, loss of available wall space, and compulsive Marketplace browsing.

Individual results may vary. If symptoms persist for more than four hours, you’ve probably become a collector.

Mark Martin’s Partial Left Front Fender from the 1998 Save Mart/Kragen 350 @ Sonoma

Mark started deep in the pack in 26th, finishing in 6th place. Just a year prior he had won at Sears Point in dominating fashion.

This is the only race I can find images with the same contingency sponsor orientation and even the riveting from the now missing splitter brace aligns perfectly from race imagery.

Mark Martin's partial bumper from 2000 Food City 500 @ Bristol

Mark was in at least three incidents and couldn't seem to catch a break. It's a shame too, he drove from 34th all the way into the top 10 but a lug nut issue on pit road and late spin set him back, he'd later finish 16th

Mark Martin Firesuit/Crew Suit Timeline Collection

If you’ve got a sharp eye you can locate some that not quite like the others.

Among the collection are two legitimate race used driver suits (2004 Viagra, 1999 Valvoline Cummins), one legitimate race used crew firesuit (1996 Winn Dixie) and five legitimate crew issued shirts (2008 Army, 2006 AAA, 1992 Valvoline, 1990 Whistler, 1989 Stroh’s).

Spoilers if you’re looking for the odd balls: The Scotts crew shirt is a Busch series/Edwards issued piece but sports the same color scheme as Mark’s 2005 dominant run through the Craftsman Truck series.

The IROC drivers suit is just a knock off replica and has Dale Jarrett’s name on the breast, but the authentic ones are incredibly hard to come by and I wanted a representative for Mark’s five IROC titles.

The Folgers jacket is a corporate/team issued, not over the wall variety. Still looking for a crew shirt or firesuit for that iconic sponsor program.

The Carolina Ford Dealers shirt is a cool story, Mark ran that sponsorship for some of his earliest Busch series races. The shirt comes from Clint Bowyer’s 2017 Darlington Throwback scheme, so a modern interpretation of a previous era.

Stroh’s Light and Whistler Radar Detectors are from Roush’s early Cougar Mustang days in IMSA, Mark was among the winning drivers for the 1989 Rolex 24 at Daytona.

Thanks for taking a look!

Mark Martin partial fender from the 2004 UAW-GM Quality 500

Mark was running 2nd with less than 30 laps to go in the 2004 UAW-GM Quality 500...

until Brendan Gaughan decided to attempt to pit at the absolute last second, leaving Jimmy Spencer no time to avoid him. The two lapped cars then collected Mark and Ryan Newman. Mark ended up limping home to a 13th place finish, costing him 50 some odd points in the Championship race.

1998 or 1999, still working to ID it. If ‘98 it would be the very first year of the Ford Taurus program which would be pretty cool

Reach out if you or someone you know has Mark Martin sheetmetal, I’d love to discuss it with you. Thanks for taking a look!
