Mark Martin’s Partial Left Front Fender from the 1998 Save Mart/Kragen 350 @ Sonoma

Mark started deep in the pack in 26th, finishing in 6th place. Just a year prior he had won at Sears Point in dominating fashion.

This is the only race I can find images with the same contingency sponsor orientation and even the riveting from the now missing splitter brace aligns perfectly from race imagery.

Bobby Labonte in the No 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Pontiac Grand Prix leads Rusty Wallace in the No 2 Penske Racing Ford Thunderbird during the 1997 NAPA 500 at Atlanta. Labonte would take the win, the 5th of his Cup Series career.

It's very likely that Labonte is in fact lapping Wallace as Rusty finished 32nd, 11 laps down.

A promotional picture of Richard Petty at Holman-Moody, circa late 1968.

The 427 Tunnel Port in this picture was running a dual quad setup. NASCAR allowed this in 1966 in an effort to offset the performance deficiency caused by the 426 Hemi's heads. In 1968, the Hemi was also allowed to run dual quads. In 1969, all engines were limited to a single 4 barrel.

Happy 80th Birthday to long time race reporter, and TV host, Dave Dispain. On a related note, who else really misses the old Speed Channel?

Back in the day I used to watch Wind Tunnel religiously. It was how I ended my weekends, man I miss Speed.

Happy 55th Birthday to 3 time Cup Series Champion (and the 1997 IndyCar Series Champ) Tony Stewart.

Smoke is the only person to have ever won the Cup Series Championship under the Winston Cup, the Nextel Cup, and the Sprint Cup Series names. He is also the only person to have ever won both an IndyCar and Cup Series Championship.

Mark Martin's partial bumper from 2000 Food City 500 @ Bristol

Mark was in at least three incidents and couldn't seem to catch a break. It's a shame too, he drove from 34th all the way into the top 10 but a lug nut issue on pit road and late spin set him back, he'd later finish 16th

On this day in NASCAR history, May 20, 1984: Richard Petty wins the 1984 Budweiser 500 at Dover. This was the 199th Cup win of his career.

For 1984 and 1985 Petty was actually driving for Mike Curb rather than Petty Enterprises. While this was his 199th Cup win it was his 203rd NASCAR win over all as Petty had won a Convertible race in 1959 and 3 Winston West races.

Richard Petty had also won a USAC Stock Car race at Pocono in 1973.

May 15, 1983- Benny Parsons races with his Skoal teammate Harry Gant in the Mason-Dixon 500 at Dover. Parsons' engine only made 190 laps before giving up. He finished 29th. Gant posted a ninth place finish despite being ten laps down at the finish.

Buddy Baker climbing into the Petty Enterprises No 11 Dodge, with Richard Petty's car visible right behind him in 1972. Buddy would drive 10 races in this car that year, driving it to victory lane in the World 600 at Charlotte.

Baker drove a total of 28 races for the Petty's, collecting 2 wins. 18 races in 1971 with a win at Darlington, and 10 in 1972 with the win at Charlotte. He ended the 1972 season in the famous K&K No 71 Dodge, winning the season ending race at Texas.

Bobby Allison's #12 Mercury Cyclone in the 1971 American 500. From what I've heard, this was Ralph Moody's favorite stock car ever.

With his brother Donnie helping by relief driving, they finished 3rd. Richard Petty won the race.

Favorite paint scheme Friday, r/NASCAR_History! Drop your favorite older paint schemes in the comments!

I willfully admit mine is incredibly basic but I'm a proud huge Terry Labonte fan and this scheme never gets boring for me no matter how many times I see it...
