Rust account banned
A few days ago I noticed a game ban suddenly appeared on my Steam profile for Rust. The weird part is that I haven’t played Rust in over 3 years, Steam itself shows my last played date was in 2023.
Before anyone asks: no, my account wasn’t hacked. I checked login history/devices and the only currently signed in device is my PC. The signed out devices are just some of my old laptops/phones from months ago, nothing suspicious. My Steam account itself is also over a decade old and has never been bought/shared.
I contacted Facepunch Support first and got the generic “game bans are permanent” response with no actual follow up. About a week later I opened another ticket, and now they’re claiming the account/game was “created using third-party services” and “not legitimately purchased through Steam.”
That makes even less sense because when I checked my purchase history, Rust was bought directly through Steam. I also still have receipts for multiple other purchases from around that time.
I’ve had no luck with Facepunch Studios support, so I’m hoping maybe someone here has dealt with something similar or knows if there’s any way to escalate this further.
I honestly don’t care that much about being banned from Rust itself since I don’t even play anymore, but I’d really like to get rid of the huge “1 game ban on record” on my Steam profile.
Has anyone dealt with something similar before, or is there any way to escalate this further?
