Choix de piscine hors terre

Salut groupe !

CIO looking for stories - 7 month old

Hi ! I've been reading this sub like a bible since birth of kiddo. (English not my first language, sorry for maybe weird phrasing down below)

I’m looking to hear a variety of experiences regarding CIO. Ferber and CIO are extremely frowned upon where I’m from, but we believe in the importance of learning independent sleep skills. We've seen so many anti sleep training friends struggling for years with their kid sleep and we don't want that.

LO is 7.5 months old. His wake windows are not entirely consistent (2,5 to 3h) and depend on his tired cues. We mostly do 2 naps, sometimes 3 if he woke up too early or had a nap that was too short. Our bedtime routine is very consistent. No dwt since we are both on parental leave. He does good with that type of schedule.

Since his 4-month sleep regression, LO’s sleep has been very inconsistent. He wakes frequently and needs help falling back asleep. He has a very strong sleep association with me (mom). We tried all the gentle sleep training methods without success (even Huckleberry), so we eventually decided to try Ferber. What a nightmare! Baby seemed even more distressed by our check-ins. Every time he saw us and we left again, he cried as if he were dying.

The first night, after an hour, my husband and I gave in and picked him up to comfort him. He then slept 9 hours straight without waking.

The second night, we continued with Ferber, but after one cycle of seeing that our interventions seemed to make things worse, we switched to CIO. He was just sitting in his crib crying/screaming and shaking. In total (Ferber + CIO), he cried for 45 minutes. Poor thing fell asleep sitting up from exhaustion. We could see he was attempting to self-soothe even if it was really hard. We feel incredibly guilty and heartbroken (we were both crying), even though we know this may be beneficial in the long run. He only had one wake-up to feed and slept for 11h total.

Tonight is night 3, and we are planning to do CIO from the start. I think it will be better than Ferber, but I'm scared to let him cry alone.

I’m looking for stories from people in similar situations with babies who didn’t respond to any other sleep training method and ultimately ended up doing CIO. Did any of your babies cry this intensely as well? Did it affect your attachment or relationship with your baby?

I just really need to hear from people in situations similar to ours to help reassure us that we’re doing the right thing.

Thank you in advance so much 🙏🏻
